Every anime season has had its share of popular characters for fans to obsess over, and Spring 2022 is no different. With the largest amount of shows out so far, the current anime season has a slew of shows, each with a number of new characters to catch the audience's attention.
While male characters definitely get some love now and then, it's no surprise that female characters tend to grab the viewers' attention more. Whether they are strong supporting characters or main characters in their own right, here are some of the best female characters from the Spring 2022 anime season.
10 Hana Ichijo – Aoashi
The sister-in-law of Tatsuya Fukuda is a soccer fanatic, to the point that she frequently attends the practices and games that his youth team takes part in. While she is not an official part of the staff, she helps out often, making her a recognizable face among the staff.
Hana is one of the first people to recognize Ashito's potential and supports him vigorously with various meal plans and training routines. While he's not immediately appreciative of her efforts, he does recognize that she is a big help to him.
9 Ai Hayasaka – Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 3
The sly and stoic maid of Kaguya Shinomiya is back with Kaguya-sama's third season. Hayasaka's biting sarcasm and various personas make her quite a character to follow.
In the third season of Kaguya-sama, fans of Ai Hayasaka get to see her take more of the spotlight during a few episodes, mostly involving her relationship with Kaguya and Shirogane. While she's still a side character as far as the main plot is concerned, it's certain that she's going to play a large role in the future.
8 Eiko Tsukimi – Ya Boy Kongming!
A struggling artist who aspires to make it as a singer, Eiko makes ends meet by working at a bar, where she is occasionally allowed to sing. A chance meeting with Zhuge Kongming changes her life completely, and now she's on the path to stardom.
Hard-working and passionate, Eiko doesn't take any shortcuts on the road to success. Her work ethic is only matched by her love for singing. While she is often confused by Kongming's bizarre plans, she has faith in him and trusts him to make good on his word.
7 Myne – Ascendance Of A Bookworm Season 3
Once an aspiring librarian in Japan, Urano Motosu is reincarnated as a little girl named Myne. Once a simple girl suffering from the Devouring, Myne is now a priestess of the church and a prolific inventor.
While Myne may not be able to do much on her own, her inventiveness and natural charisma allow her to build a host of allies that are loyal to her. Her ability to navigate the politics of church and noble life can be just as thrilling as an action-packed battle.
6 Shoko Komi – Komi Can't Communicate Season 2
The quiet, yet beautiful Shoko Komi returns with the second season of Komi Can't Communicate, and she is just as adorable and sweet as she was last season. She's still trying to make one hundred friends at Itan Private High, and it's certainly an uphill battle.
Komi may not have the most lines, but her expressive faces and cat ears allow the viewers to understand her thought process regardless. Every episode of Komi Can't Communicate is beyond cute, and Komi's charm has a lot to do with that.
5 Ushio Kofune – Summer Time Rendering
Ushio Kofune's death sparks the beginning of Summer Time Rendering and Ajiro Shinpei's visit to the island where he spent his youth. However, a fragment of Ushio lives on in her shadow, who lacks the malicious intent of her brethren.
Ushio acts completely identical to her original, with no discernable difference between them. However, when push comes to shove, Ushio's Shadow abilities come in to save the day. While she can't replace the original Ushio, she can help to make sure that no other tragedies will occur.
4 Yor Forger – Spy x Family
The beautiful wife of the Forger family is not who she seems. While she works at City Hall by day, she is a deadly assassin by night, and she has killed many for the sake of her country.
At first glance, Yor is a somewhat ditzy, gullible young woman with a bizarre imagination. However, she can also be quite terrifying, and her physical abilities are not to be ignored. While Yor's secret is mostly safe, her often awkward attempts to hide the truth are hilarious to behold.
3 Kaguya Shinomiya – Kaguya-sama: Love Is War
The title character of Kaguya-sama: Love Is Waris as refined and cunning as she always is, though she's a bit more honest about her feelings for Shirogane this time around. While she's still insistent about having Shirogane confess first, it's clear that she loves him, and there's no denying it.
Kaguya's character development over the seasons has been slow, but it looks like it's finally about to pay off. She remains a fun character to watch, especially when she attempts her gambits to make Shirogane confess.
2 Desumi Magahara – Love After World Domination
The extremely powerful and seemingly merciless Reaper Princess is one of Gekko's most powerful commanders – as well as the girlfriend of Fudo Aikawa, the leader of their mortal enemy Gelato 5. Desumi Magahara has to juggle her duties as a commander while keeping hidden her secret relationship with Fudo.
While Desumi only sees her work in Gekko as a part-time job, she nevertheless takes her work seriously as a high-ranking commander. Still, she's a kind, caring person with conviction, and her love for Fudo is true.
1 Anya Forger – Spy x Family
The adorable telepath Anya Forger was adopted by Twilight in order to carry out Operation Strix, a secret plan to protect the peace between the two nations of Westalis and Ostania. Anya is desperate to play a role in this plan, even if her adoptive father doesn't realize it.
Anya has caught the love and attention of fans everywhere due to her bouncy cuteness and hilarious expressions. Her childlike curiosity and rampant mind-reading provide a source of humor for one of the best shows of the season.
