Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become more popular than Nintendo could have ever imagined. The game has taken over every forms of social media with memes, dreams, and screams for quality of life upgrades. In a time in which many are stuck inside, players have been charmed by a relaxing world where they can catch fish or hang out with their favorite villagers.

In fact, Animal Crossing's villagers have become so popular that some artists have even taken it upon themselves to design their own characters they'd like to add to the game. It's a breathtaking display of creativity and an interesting look into how media can inspire artists. The villagers in the base game are amazing already, but here are ten of the best fanmade villagers Nintendo should add to the game.

10 Wesley

First up is Wesley, a deer whose birthday is on the 10th of November 10th. Green and blue pastels were used to design the character that's accented with various shades of pink in the background. Like many of the entries on this list, she's the result of the artist basing a character on themselves.

Every villager in Animal Crossing comes with one of eight personality types. Wesley's personality type is peppy, which means she's friendly and optimistic. There are 65 peppy villagers in total throughout the series, with one of the most popular being Tangy.

9 Rhody the Cave Bunny

Next up is Rhody the Cave Bunny. He's similar to the Egyptian cat Ankha in that he's themed to ancient times. While most villagers have a more modern appearance, Rhody represents a subset of characters that have a specific theme to them. Examples include the robotic Sprocket or the plush-like Stitches.

Most villagers have specific clothing style they stick to when choosing out their outfits. Rhody's is natural which, as one can see, has been taken a bit too much to heart. He's wielding a spear, as well. Maybe that's how they caught bugs in ancient times.

8 Petunia

Petunia is a hamster inspired by the Happy Tree Friends series. Don't let her cute looks and pastel colors fool you; she's got a thirst for bells that can cross over into a thirst for blood if she's pushed too far.

There are multiple species of villagers a player can get in Animal Crossing. It can vary from dogs, birds, to even bears. However, the series features only a few hamster villagers, with only nine in the entire series. They are one of the most recent additions as they began appearing in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

7 Cerise

The adorable Cerise is a squirrel who's colored with a pleasing mix of green and pink. Her art style is clearly by the official renders Nintendo releases for the official Animal Crossing villagers. It's incredible how close @pelloranchi was able to come to recreating the actual art for the series.

She has a sisterly personality, meaning they will care for the player if they are befriended. If a player suffers a sing, they can always go to these types of characters to get some medicine. However, that doesn't mean they won't share their mind. Talk to them too much, and they're likely to get annoyed.

6 Pink

The stylish Pink is a bear cub who loves to say "dope." It's hard to see the family-friendly Nintendo allowing a character to say that, but it just serves to show that Pink is so cool that she defies the game's "E for Everyone" ESRB age rating.

Pink's species, a bear cub, has 18 members. With the obvious height difference, they aren't in the same class as the generic bears. It is unclear if this is because cubs are younger than bears or if they are actually a different species.

5 Milly

On September sixth, Milly the golden retriever was born. As her illustrations show, she wears a lovely striped blue dress and enjoys drawing on an iPad-like device. Her catchphrase is "yeah?," so, if she ever did make it into the game, that's how she'd finish her sentences.

If a player isn't satisfied with an animal's catchphrases, they can change it if they put in the work. Talking to a villager enough times will trigger them to ask a player to give them new suggestions. Milly looks pretty sleepy in one image, so maybe another fitting catchphrase could be "zzzz."

4 Honda

Honda is a bunny with a love for doodling—maybe she'd be good friends with Milly. She has a normal personality, which means that she's nice to players and tends to have a middle-of-the-road opinion on things. This bunny is a music lover, as well, with her favorite track being Drivin.'

One of New Horizons' most upsetting exclusions is Brewster and his coffee shop. In New Leaf, players were even able to get behind the counter and serve villagers coffee. Honda likes her coffee with no milk and three spoonfuls of sugar. So, remember that if she ever makes her way into the game.

3 Lynn

Lynn is a goat with a pink, yellow, and white color scheme. They have a peppy personality, but, judging by the artwork, this goat may be a little shy, as well.

Goats are one of the most fickle species in the Animal Crossing series. There are ten goats in total, but only Chevre has been in every game. Half of the official goats are Capricorns. It's a clever reference to the fact that the Capricorn symbol is a goat. None of them have a peppy personality, which means Lynn would be the first if she ever got in.

2 Blu

Blu, true to their name, is a bluebird with a harmonious style. Birds in the Animal Crossing series occupy a weird space in the universe. They could be your best friend, or you could find a realistic one that will hang on the town message board. Octopuses are in a similar space; you can either find one in the ocean and put it in the museum or a player could buy one a birthday present.

Birds are some of the most well-represented species in the series with there being 21 unique ones throughout the series. Similar to bears and cubs, there are also other kinds of bird villagers that could come visit your island. Those include chickens, ducks, eagles, ostriches, eagles, and even pelicans. That's not even including Blathers, the owl that operates the museum.

1 Edgar

Wish Edgar a late happy birthday since he just celebrated it on June first. He's smug and his outfits are always whatever is the hip style at the time. He's actually based on a real-life photo of a bird that can be found on Instagram.

Smug villagers are relatively new with the personality type being introduced in New Leaf. They can be arrogant and have trouble making friends with villagers who have a sisterly personality—so he and Cerise might not get along). They're early risers and they typically like to get up at 8:30 AM.
