8 Knight Terrors

Knight Terrors kicked off in August and was a universe-wide crossover event where the entire Justice League and some of the main heroes' wards are targeted by a sinister enemy known as Insomnia. The story branches off with four main issues and a slew of tie-in comics focused on heroes taking on the power of Insomnia, who can bring to life the worst fears of its targets.

Superman, Batman, Damian Wayne, and Deadman become enthralled by Insomnia in this horrific story, facing their own fears via some challenging trials. The story was spearheaded by Joshua Williamson, and incorporated numerous creators from DC's staff, such as Chris Bachalo and Howard Porter.

7 Lazarus Planet

Kenny Porter and Jahnoy Lindsay take on "The Boy with the S" in this six-part miniseries that focuses on Connor Kent as he tries to adjust to his new life in a new place after the events of Dark Crisis. With Metropolis topped off with super-powered Kryptonians, Connor finds it more than challenging to connect with his fellow heroes, let alone with his own family.

Superboy: Man of Tomorrow follows Connor on a series of adventures that lead him off-world to rediscover himself and maybe save a world or two along the way.

5 Spirit World

Spirit World is a miniseries by creators Alyssa Wong and Haining Stars that takes comic fans on a different type of thrill ride in the occult section of the DC Comics Universe. A new character emerges wielding a magic sword named Xanthe and has the ability to travel back and forth from the spirit world, also known as the land of the dead.
