Nintendo's games have something of nostalgic feel to their games as well as a cozy, comforting aura, both in visuals and gameplay. This could be due to the comfort many players felt as kids playing the 90s’s classic, the N64 or even the WII or DS when growing up.
Whether it can be pinpointed where this snug feeling of Nintendo comes from, it is safe to say the brand is almost known for being a platform for homely feel and games such as Animal Crossing and games by indie developers such as Stardew Valley. Sea of Stars is a retro-inspired RPG game. The game has a cool 8-bit style with aesthetic visuals and cozy color schemes, similar to Stardew Valley. Following two children with powers of the sun and moon. Sea of Stars tells a story of adventure with an exciting and engaging gameplay as well as the option to play more relaxed gameplay by cooking, fishing and exploring.
The stunning visuals and nostalgic 8-bit style give the game a comforting feel and something for gamers to look forward to in 2023. The release date for Sea of Stars has not yer been confirmed, however the developers have stated that the game will be out in summer 2023.
9 Blanc
Blanc, described by Nintendo as ‘an emotional tale,’ is a poetic and illustrative game following the story of an adorable wolf cub. The game tells the tale of the cub and a fawn lost in a snowstorm trying to navigate together despite their natural stance as prey and predator.
The game has the beautiful style of a hand drawn pencil sketch giving both the visuals, and the storyline a cozy and comforting feeling. It is the perfect winter to spring for players to enjoy and will be available on the Switch store on the 14th of February.
8 Europa
Europa is a peaceful adventure game where players can play along and explore the beautiful landscape, joining the main character, Zee the android. Players also get to solve puzzles and mysteries whilst uncovering the games interesting story.
The game is the perfect balance of peaceful and adventure filled allowing players to enjoy gameplay that is relaxing yet exciting. The game has not got a confirmed release date yet, but it will be out on the Switch store in 2023 and the developers are hoping to have a date soon.
7 Spirittea
Spirittea is an adorable 8-bit game that combines elements of Stardew Valley with the popular Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away. In the game, players are living in a small spirit filled town, however, only the games main character which gamers play as can see these spirits.
In Spititea gamers can manage their bathhouse, upgrade it, decorate, befriend locals and help solve the problems of the spirits. This game is perfect for fans of retro style games that are free to explore with gameplay that can be enjoyed at the players pace. Spirittea is confirmed to release in 2023, however, there is no exact release date yet.
6 Mineko's Night Market
This chilled out game is a narrative-driven game with adorable graphics, peaceful gameplay and an enjoyable story. Gamers can craft and cook making it a great game for Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley lovers.
The game follows a girl named Mineko who has just moved to a mysterious Japanese island which is inspired by mt Fuji. Unfortunately this is another 2023 release with a confirmed release date still pending however gamers can keep an eye on the Nintendo website for the official date to release.

Coming to the Switch store in 2023, Mail Time is an adorable cottage-core which is perfect for any lovers of cozy comfort games. As the title suggests, Mail Time follows a new mail carrier as she delivers post to her forest friends. The game is a woodland based platform style game making it simple and enjoyable. The graphics are stunning and are perfect for a cozy afternoon in of gaming.

Fae Farm is a game Nintendo fans have been excited for and waiting in anticipation for the release and the game is finally coming in spring 2023. This game is a Switch exclusive farming simulator with a huge selection of things to do. Players can farm, fish and explore in the gorgeous fairytale town in which the game is set.
The game is also available for up to four players meaning fans can collaborate with their friends on their farms and enjoy the gameplay together. Loddlenautis a simple yet effective game perfect for fans fo organization type games. The game is simple revolved around cleaning the ocean and fish with its simple objective and pretty scenery making it a great comfort game. The game has zero resitants and players are free to explore and complete tasks at their own pace.

Puff Pals: Island Skies is a brand new kickstarter funded game and is available to pre-order now on kickstarter. This game is an adorable and wholesome life simulator where players can explore, farm, decorate and cook. This game is filled with adorable graphics and peaceful homely gameplay making it the perfect escape from a stressful day.
The developers have described the game as a game about eliciting the nostalgic memories of growing up as a kid' and this is captured perfectly in the cute and enjoyable gameplay. The official release date is to be confirmed, but it is expected to be 2023 with pre-order available now.
