2022 has been a stellar year for anime fans, witnessing the release of many new hit anime like Summertime Render and Isekai Ojisan, to the return of many beloved classics like My Hero Academia and Kaguya-Sama Love is War. However, by far the most anticipated show this year was none other than Tatsuki Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man. This action-packed, and gore-filled anime has long been making rounds in the fandom. Chainsaw Man is a show that involves demons and demon hunters, a trope not too original in PF itself, but what sets it apart is its characters and the atmosphere of the show.
Chainsaw Man is a very different and dark shonen anime, unlike anything the fandom has seen before. Animated gorgeously by studio MAPPA, It currently holds a rating of 8.8 on My Anime List. A show of such proportions is bound to become the main attraction for many memes; especially with its weird protagonist, Denji, and over-the-top side characters. The Chainsaw Man anime has been substantially popular with viewers since it started airing, but the hype surrounding this anime did not start after it got an anime adaptation. In fact, the Chainsaw Man manga has been very popular in Japan as well as in the USA for quite some time now. Where most manga become popular after their initial anime runs, Chainsaw Man had been topping the manga charts well before it got an anime adaptation.
One major factor for the manga's popularity was how it took a different approach to many of the tropes seen across the shonen genre. Released in 2018, the Chainsaw Man has sold over 20 million copies as of November 2022, whilst also garnering many awards in the process. Seeing as how the anime has been animated by the famous studio MAPPA, this anime adaptation itself is nothing to be sleeping on.

Chainsaw Man has brought forth some very interesting characters for anime fans. Usually, the fandom would be losing its mind over the new waifus introduced in Chainsaw Man, and for the most part, they are, but the ladies in this show are not the only thing keeping fans hooked on it. Chainsaw Man has given anime dweebs a new contender for the best dog across all anime in the shape of Pochita.
Pochita was a devil dog with a chainsaw sticking out of its forehead. After being saved by Denji, Pochita started living with him and became his one and only friend. Though the puppy's screen time got cut short after the first episode, it was enough to warm its way into the hearts of anime fans everywhere.
3 Yelling at the Cat
Everyone is familiar with the famous meme that depicts a lady losing her cool and yelling at a white cat. Well, now anime fans have a Chainsaw Man version of that meme depicting a frustrated Aki yelling at the oh-so-dumb Power while Denji tries his best to cool Aki down.
The origin of this meme stems from when in addition to Denji, Power also started crashing at Aki's place and turned his whole apartment upside down. But in Power's defense, she just feels like cleaning up after yourself is a waste of time and something only dumb humans do. This meme has been designed by Anime-Express, who have a variety of merchandise centered around it specifically.
2 Bread
Given Denji's circumstances, it was obvious that he had not gotten a chance to enjoy food other than a loaf of bread for most of his early life. In fact, the poor guy did not even have enough money to pour some jam over his loaves of bread. As simple-minded as he is, Denji always wanted to try jam, and he finally got his wish answered once he was picked up by the Devil Hunters of the Public Safety.
After he started living with Aki Hayakawa, his senior, he got his chance to not only taste jams but also butter, and continued to put everything he found on his load of bread. This meme pokes fun at Denji's cooking abilities and makes it feel relatable for many viewers.

The fourth division of the Devil Hunters of Public Safety is an odd one for sure, consisting of loose-headed devil hunters, a fiend, and a boy who can control devilish chainsaw powers. Safe to say this bunch is not the best group of friends one would want to be hanging around. Nonetheless, their circumstances brought them together, and now they must try to survive together.
After going through a traumatic and hellish time, being trapped in a time loop at a hotel by a devil, the gang was barely able to survive and make it out alive. A few of his coworkers even tried to kill Denji for their own sake. However, at the end of the day, all was forgiven, and they were able to defeat the devil and come out in one piece. The meme above draws a sarcastic comparison between the cast of Chainsaw Man and the hit sitcom Friends.
