With remasters, remakes, and additional titles being created over the years that have helped to expand the amount of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games, these are all of the Modern Warfare games ranked by how much they were enjoyed by players. Including not only the main titles but also those that were spin-offs that many players are unable to access now.

Starting off small, an honorable mention must first be given to the mobile gameModern Warfare 2: Force Recon. This game was only able to gamers using Verizon Wireless and could be purchased for $3.99 a month or permanently for $7.99. It was originally released in 2009 alongside the FPS Modern Warfare 2 though it is now no longer available.

Although it was an early mobile app, Force Recon still played brilliantly as it provided countless game modes for players to get involved with as well as its own interesting story set after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

The remastered version of the 2009 title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 left much to be desired. This remaster only included the main campaign of Modern Warfare 2 and although many players enjoyed the cleaned-up graphics and performed brilliantly, the experience overall felt short to players with nothing to do afterward.

This is because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered only included the campaign of the game with no access to a multiplayer mode, this fell short for many players that felt a large part of the game was competing against others.

Surprisingly, back in 2009, Modern Warfare saw itself spread across various platforms with Modern Warfare even finding its way onto the Nintendo DS. Evidently, it's quite the challenge to make an enjoyable first-person shooter that works on the DS however, it would appear that Modern Warfare – Mobilized was exactly that for many players of the handheld console.

As expected, the first-person shooter did have its hiccups especially due to the limitations of the Nintendo DS but overall it was one of the most successful Modern Warfare titles to work well on the DS.

Where the remastered of the Modern Warfare 2 release failed, the remake of the game succeeded. The 2022 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 completely switched up the story of the original 2009 game creating an even more in-depth campaign experience.

Since starting the first-person shooter, this is the first time in a while that the title has gone out of its comfort zone, and it worked. It contains an engaging campaign that at points reminds players of the old one while also having its fair share of new encounters. Not to mention the multiplayer that the remaster was missing.

5 Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Overall, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was a hit for quite a few players. The campaign followed after the events of Modern Warfare 2, expanding on that story further while also coming to somewhat of a conclusion. The multiplayer continued to amaze people with some modes gaining new twists.

However, some players argued that Modern Warfare 3 didn't change enough as certain elements were almost identical to its previous title. Not only in continuing the story but also not adding anything new to its multiplayer. This may be when Activision to decided to take a new angle with the game.

Releasing in 2019, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) hoped to breathe new life into the Call of Duty franchise. Reimagining the story of the original Modern Warfare that was released back in 2007, this new title aimed to modernize the war shown to players.

While some fans had their concerns with the story, many loved that the franchise had returned to creating strong and memorable single-player campaigns, with interesting spec ops to also get involved in. Activision also provided an excellent multiplayer experience for those who enjoy working against others in intense matches.

3 Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

Although the remaster of the original modern warfare came out before the remaster of Modern Warfare 2, this version was enjoyed a lot more. This is because unlike Modern Warfare 2, Activision improved not only the performance and graphics of the main campaign but also kept the multiplayer modes and maps to allow players the nostalgia of the classic player vs player battles.

Unsurprisingly, the original Modern Warfare 2 was enjoyed a lot more than both its remaster and remake. Firstly due to at the time having one of the most interesting and intriguing campaigns of the entire franchise, that even at some points had a chance at being emotional.

Unlike its remaster, Modern Warfare 2 came with a multiplayer mode that many players continue to be fond of, especially for its versatility between the different maps. As well as being the game that really raised the bar of what was expected of the Call of Duty franchise.

1 Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

By far the greatest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to be created was the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which was released in 2007. While it may have not been the first Call of Duty title to be made, this created the first stepping-stone for Modern Warfare to branch out as its own line of games in Call of Duty.

Even though the campaign may be short, it still found a way to attract players while also including a brilliant multiplayer mode to keep them hooked on the game even after completion. While Modern Warfare 2 may have raised the bar in 2009, Call of Duty 4 was already doing this for the entire franchise in 2007.
