8 Guts

Without a shadow of a doubt, Guts is among the strongest characters in Berserk. From a very young age, Guts was involved in wars. He practiced with his sword as he moved from one battlefield to another. Over time, Guts' swordsmanship reached new levels.

He was able to fight against the likes of Zodd with just his sword. Whilst staying with the Band of Hawk, Guts managed to improve his skills further and he eventually got the better of Griffith. Later on, Guts received the Berserker armor, which acted as a big boost to his strength. With the newfound power, Guts was able to defeat many powerful apostles.

7 Serpico

A talented swordsman, Serpico joined the Blackswordsman Party after Farnese. Serpico's talent with the sword has been acknowledged by the likes of Farnese and Guts. His strength is further boosted by the Sylph Sword and Sylph Cloak.

With the Sylph Sword, Serpico is able to cut through trolls and other creatures. The Sylph Cloak boosts his agility and acts as a shield against attacks. It was able to deflect Ganishka's lightning strike. Both of these objects make him a dangerous foe.

6 Casca

Before losing her sanity, Casca served as a high-ranking member of the Band of Hawk. It is fair to say that before Guts joined the group, she was only second to Griffith in terms of strength. A fearless warrior, Casca was respected by all the members of the Band of Hawk. Throughout the series, Casca managed to get the better of opponents that were twice her size.

Along with her skill with the sword, Casca was also an apt leader. After Griffith's capture by the Midland army, she was the one who kept the Band of Hawk alive. She also managed to concoct a strategy to save Griffith from the clutches of the Midland Empire. Without a doubt, she is one of the strongest female characters in anime.

5 Griffith

Before being reborn as one of the villains, Femto of the God Hand, Griffith was the leader of the original Band of Hawk. His leadership skills allowed him to lead a bunch of nobodies to glory. Griffith's ability to make battle plans allowed the Band of Hawk to achieve an incredible amount of fame in a short period.

For a long time, Griffith was the best swordsman in the Band of Hawk, until he was finally supplanted by Guts. Griffith's style of fighting was elegant and he was able to stop the attacks from Guts' broadsword without any problems. The combination of his tactics and leadership allowed the Midland kingdom to win the Hundred Years War.

4 Flora

Flora was the mentor of Schierke and among the strongest mages in the entire series. As seen in the Berserk manga, She was an ally of the powerful Skull Knight. After being alive for a long period, Flora managed to learn about various magic.

She was considered a threat by Griffith, who sent an army to kill her. Despite her old age, Flora was able to help Guts' party to fight against the army of apostles. Flora's magic was potent enough to stop Grunbeld and his minions from chasing Guts and company.

3 Schierke

Schierke joined the Blackswordsman party after Flora's death. She was trained by Flora in the ways of magic. While she's not on the same level as her master, Schierke has saved Guts and the others several times.

She has demonstrated the ability to create charms to weaken the effect of the Brand of Sacrifice. Schierke can also use astral projection, which allows her to separate her astral body from her physical one. Using this particular ability, Schierke can fly into the astral world and she also managed to prevent Guts from losing his sanity.

2 Farnese

Farnese formerly served as the commander of the Holy Iron Chain Knights, but after her encounter with Guts, she quit her role. Farnese joined Guts' party and soon enough she developed a connection with Schierke.

Despite starting her training as a mage very late, Farnese showed incredible skill. Farnese managed to surprise Schierke with her progress. Farnese can manifest the Formation of the Four, without the need of a magic circle. With her talent, it won't be long before she becomes one of the strongest mages in the series.

1 Gaiseric

Gaiseric played an important role in the history of Midland. He was the very first king who managed to bring all the clans of the ancient world together. Gaiseric managed to accomplish this feat with the help of brute force.

His strength allowed him to rule over all the different groups of people. They came to respect Gaiseric a lot and he came to be known as "Supreme King Gaiseric."
