Fans of Ben Affleck’s Batman are celebrating today as they potentially get to see him don the cape once again in the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Just when everyone thought he was done with the role of the Caped Crusader, rumors started swirling of his potential return, and a few keen-eyed fans seemed to have spotted him on the sequel’s set. Jason Momoa decided to end the speculation, and confirmed the rumors.

Sharing an image from the sets of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on Instagram, Momoa revealed the big secret of Affleck’s involvement in the upcoming sequel. It is unclear at this point how big of a role Affleck plays, and whether he only shows up as Bruce Wayne, but regardless of the details, fans are absolutely thrilled. The rumors have been replaced by fan theories, and it’s going to be a long wait for hardcore Batfleck fans to see him back on the big screen.

Momoa confirmed in his Instagram post that Affleck had been spotted by a few fans on a Warner Bros. set tour. He must have been sure that Affleck’s sighting would lead to rumors and leaked photos, and so took the high road of letting the cat out of the bag himself. His post consists of multiple photos of him and Affleck posing on the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom set. “Reunited Bruce and Arthur. Love u and miss u Ben. WB studio tours just explored the back lot alright. Busted on set. All great things coming Aquaman 2,” the caption reads.

The photos of Affleck seem to suggest that he will be returning as the billionaire Wayne, with him dressed in his industrialist avatar. In his caption, Momoa also refers to him as Bruce, which has some fans wondering whether he will be wearing the cape at all, or just assisting his friend financially. The last image in Momoa’s post is of a few fans on the set tour, obviously trying to sneak in a photo of Affleck walking around in a crisp suit.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will not be Affleck’s only outing as Wayne, as he is also confirmed to return as Batman in The Flash, along with fellow Batman star Michael Keaton. It seems like Batfleck fans still want to see the actor portray the role. While he wasn’t cast in The Batman, which released earlier this year, fans are now wondering what his continued involvement in the DC Extended Universe means for the character’s future.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is scheduled to premiere in theaters on March 17, 2023.
