Bella Ramsey is all the rage right now, thanks to her iconic role in HBO's post-apocalyptic drama, The Last of Us. Ramsey stars as Ellie alongside Pedro Pascal's Joel Miller. She starts off the show as Joel's cargo, and with time, turns into his foster daughter. Ramsey's Ellie is a fourteen-year-old orphan, training at a FEDRA military academy. She sneaks out one night for a surprise with her best friend, Riley and they are bitten by an Infected in an abandoned mall. This incident eventually established Ellie's Cordyceps immunity. Besides being the key to Cordyceps cure, Ellie shares a terrific father-daughter chemistry with Joel (Pedro Pascal). Interestingly enough, both Pascal and Ramsey are Game of Thrones alums.

While The Last of Us is a tale of survival in the Cordyceps-ravaged United States, Game of Thrones tells the tale of a civil war in the mythical land of Westeros. The drama boasts the who's who of acting, take say, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Pascal (Oberyn Martell). Ramsey appeared in season 6 as the head of House Mormont of Bear Island namely, Lyanna Mormont. She came from a line of warriors such as the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, Jeor Mormont. He was her uncle whereas Daenerys' right-hand man, Jorah was her first cousin. Lyanna was wise beyond her years, and as Wyman Manderly said, she spoke "harshly but truly" on numerous key events in the show.

Lyanna Mormont's Role In Battle Of The Bastards

Lady Lyanna Mormont addresses Jon Snow and Sansa in Game of Thrones.

Lady Lyanna Mormont is introduced in Game of Thrones season 6, episode 7 "The Broken Man" after Jon, Ser Davos, and Sansa talk about retaking Winterfell from the Boltons. On Sansa's advice, Jon meets with the Northern families and uses his status as the son of the last true Warden of the North (Lord Eddard Stark) to convince the Houses to fight alongside him against Ramsay Bolton's army. Sansa, Jon, and their advisors agree to start small and build their army. Among the bigger three houses, the Umbers, and the Karstarks have already declared for the Boltons, and Lord Manderly refuses the call. House Mormont, on the other hand, is among the smaller houses such as Glover, Cerwyn, Mazin, and Hornwood.

Bella Ramsey's Game of Thrones character, Lady Lyanna Mormont welcomes Jon and Sansa to Bear Island, following which Sansa says that the young lady is named after her aunt, Lyanna Stark. Ramsey's Lyanna curtly reminds Sansa that her mother died fighting for a Stark (Robb) and inquires about their purpose of visit, knowing full well that they have come to ask for her fighting men. Jon adds to the conversation saying House Stark needs House Mormont's allegiance in their upcoming battle. Lyanna isn't convinced, and she says she's responsible for Bear Island and asks them why she should sacrifice another Mormont for the Starks.

In the end, Ser Davos convinces Lady Lyanna to commit her fighting men to what is in fact the Northern war. He informs her that her uncle, Jeor made Jon his steward and chose him as his successor because both of them understood that the real war wasn't between a few houses but between the living and the Dead. Lyanna keeps faith in House Stark because like Jon, she too wants to see a united North which stands a chance against the Dead. She is a bit shaken to know that her uncle unsuccessfully fought the Dead at the First of the First Men and Jon too lost to them at Hardhome. She commits 62 men to the battle and delivers the iconic Game of Thrones quote, "We are not a large house, but we are a proud one. And every man from Bear Island fights with the strength of 10 mainlanders."

Lyanna Mormont Fought In The Battle Of Winterfell

Lyanna Mormont stabs a Wight in the eye on Game of Thrones.

Though Jon wins Battle of the Bastards, it is the ferocious Lyanna who steals the show at the gathering of Northern lords, the Knights of the Vale, and the Wildlings. She chastises Lord Manderly, Lord Glover, and Lord Cerwyn over how they broke faith with Starks in their hour of need. She stands behind Jon, and he is subsequently declared the King in the North. Thereafter, Lyanna's presence in Game of Thrones season 7, episode 1, "Dragonstone" helps the Northern lords realize the threat of the Dead. She supports Jon as he orders everyone (including girls) from ages 10 to 60 to drill with spears and such in order to fight the Dead. "I don't plan knitting by the fire while men fight for me. I might be small Lord Glover, and I might be a girl, but I am every bit as much a Northerner as you," she says.

Lyanna Mormont agrees to train every man, woman, and girl on Bear Island. She defends the North alongside Jon at the Battle of Winterfell in Game of Thrones season 8, episode 3 "The Long Night." She throws herself headlong into a fight with a giant Wight who lifts her from the ground and begins crushing her bones. She kills it in the nick of time by stabbing it in the right eye after which they drop dead to the ground. The living are able to defeat the Night King and his army, thanks to warriors like her. Very few leaders like Lyanna Mormont existed in Game of Thrones, and even far fewer selflessly fought for the living and the North.
