A beautiful anime-inspired world, eye-catching characters, smooth battles, and engaging gameplay loop make Tower of Fantasy an exciting rival for Genshin Impact and similar titles. How well Tower of Fantasy fares, however, depends a great deal on what the experience is like for new players.

Tower of Fantasy wisely chooses to incorporate tried-and-true gameplay elements rather than invent features from the ground up, so many of its mechanics are easy for new players to learn. There are still some tips that are important for beginners to know, smoothing out the overall experience, helping players navigate this sprawling world, or aiding players in battle. Here are some great tips for beginners to Tower of Fantasy.

8 Turn Discharge Skill Animation Off

Tower of Fantasy - Battle

Flashy attacks and even attacks accompanied by their own miniature cutscenes are common in RPGs. While these can be thrilling to watch the first few times, especially when a player is figuring out the best builds for their favorite character, they tend to wear out their welcome quickly, becoming more frustrating than anything else due to the time in battle they waste.

Tower of Fantasy includes the option to turn off these cutscenes. To do so, simply go into the menu, then to Basic and Camera Options, and turn off the Discharge Skill Animation. Doing so will eliminate the unnecessary tedium of spamming these effects during battle, letting players spend more time actually playing. If the player misses these cool effects, they can always just turn them back on later.

7 Don't Rely Exclusively On The Mini-Map

Tower of Fantasy - Overlook

Mini-maps are exceptionally convenient since they allow the player a glimpse at their surroundings without the need to disrupt the flow of gameplay or constantly jump in and out of menus as they're trying to navigate. The mini-map in Tower of Fantasy is certainly useful, but players should be careful not to ignore the regular map.

Like many games, the mini-map in Tower of Fantasy shows a zoomed-in version of the world, which means players relying on it won't see things that are too far away. It's easy to overlook Supply Pods and other objects of interest if the player only looks at their mini-map. To prevent this, simply take a glance at the main map from time to time, especially when venturing through a new area. The rewards are well worth it.

6 Improve Gear And Gear Slots

Tower-of-Fantasy---Weapon-1

Both gear and the equipment slots into which they are placed can be improved throughout the game, and it's important to improve not only gear but also the slots. Players familiar with other RPGs will understand right away the basics of upgrading gear: look for better stats and higher rarities, because these will improve the character the most.

Whereas gear only benefits the character when it is used, gear slots grant permanent benefits when they are improved, regardless of what gear the player places in (or removes from) the upgraded slot. Gear slots thus represent permanent improvements to the character and should be given almost as much attention as gear. Whenever the player has the resources to upgrade these slots, they should do so, as it's not enough just to level up the character's best weapons.

5 Leave Auto-Climb Off

Tower of Fantasy - Ferris Wheel

The Basic tab of the main menu contains another feature that beginners should pay attention to: Auto Climb. This feature does exactly what it sounds like: causing the player to automatically climb eligible surfaces when the player gets close enough isn't of requiring the player to jump up and manually activate the climb action.

While this feature is ultimately a matter of player preference, and there are some situations in which having Auto Climb on can be useful, many players will find it easier to deactivate this feature at first. Tower of Fantasy includes a number of cramped sections in which the player may find themselves inadvertently latching onto every nearby wall as they try to navigate with Auto Climb on. To prevent unnecessary hangups, switch it off.

4 Improve Gear Slots Evenly

Gear slots are almost as important as gear itself, but the picture is more complicated than it first appears. It's easy to get tunnel vision where a gear slot is concerned and fixate on only upgrading the gear slot associated with the piece of gear the character cares about most. This is a mistake and one that will produce another character whose pain is a meme.

The character gains important buffs every time they reach a new gear slot threshold. Getting all eight of the character's primary gear slots to Level 10 and other threshold levels gives the player an added buff independent of individual gear slot buffs. For this reason, a character is better off having all of their primary slots at Level 10 rather than putting the same amount of points into just four slots.

3 Utilize Relic Sets

The player can create up to three Relic Sets in Tower of Fantasy. There are many ways to approach these items, but one of the best approaches for newcomers is to have one Relic Set for mobility, one for damage, and one for puzzles.

Having each Relic Set specialized for a single purpose allows the player to tackle whatever challenge is thrown at them with ease, navigating the world, solving puzzles, and taking down enemies without having to worry too much about Relic combinations. The player can freely swap between Relic Sets as long as they aren't in combat, making it quick and simple to change things up on the fly.

2 Heed The Mini-Map

Tower of Fantasy - Motorcycles

The worlds of Tower of Fantasy, Genshin Impact, and similar games are big, and players will need all the help they can get in navigating them. The mini-map in Tower of Fantasy lets players do just this, but it does more than just show players where they've already been.

One of the most important features of the mini-map is easy for new players to overlook when they're first learning the game: white diamonds. The white diamonds that appear on the mini-map mark the locations of interactable objects, such as those that give players summons.

1 Use Fire And Ice

Tower of Fantasy - Characters

Elemental attacks play a critical role in the strategy and balance of many RPGs. Enemies that seem undefeatable, taking little or no damage from one attack, can be slain in a couple of hits or even one-shotted if the player uses attacks bound to the right element.

Puzzles and environmental objects can also require the proper element to pass, and in Tower of Fantasy, the most important elements in the beginning are Fire and Ice. Having two weapon sets (each with a different element) allows the player to quickly swap between these essential elements, dispensing with whatever challenge lies before them without losing much speed.

Tower of Fantasy is now available for PC, Android, and iOS.
