The second installment in the wacky Capra capers, Goat Simulator 3, is here. Developed by Coffee Stain North in the new Unreal Engine 5, the sequel to the popular Goat Simulator, has returned with even more ram-bunctious and self-aware gameplay for players to explore. The third-person sandbox adventure allows players to once again become the G.O.A.T of goats, headbutting, licking and jumping their way across the massive island of San Angora with a bevy of new challenges, areas, and events to explore. Coffee Stain North has also introduced a multiplayer aspect in Goat Simulator 3 with character customization, so friends can tell the kids apart.
As a herd, the more, the merrier, and the mightier the mayhem. Destructible environments leave no stone unturned and no NPC untormented. Players can harness the elements with fire, electricity, and even the extraterrestrial alien goo that will sure to mess up the world with explosive and unforeseen consequences.
5 Take Advantage Of The Bigger Map
There are many more biomes included in the game this time around. Players can access woodland area, cemeteries, farms, and even city-like skyscrapers. And with a bigger map comes more secret events.
These secrets include paying homage to other famous franchises like P.T. and Wolfenstein hidden levels. In this case, instead of Nazis or stalkers chasing the player, there is a comedic skew to everything, adding goat-like whimsy instead of deadly consequences form the games they were inspired by.
4 Ewe Have To Explore
Players are encouraged in Goat Simulator 3 to think outside the box, both in completing missions, and also traversing the sandbox world. There are many ways to run around the map while playing, and the methods range from the conventional to the downright unexpected. Movement is greatly expanded in the latest game. Players are able to fly through the skies with the handy glider, run along the ground as usual, and even grind on rails in the air like Sonic.
Getting from point A to point B may seem overwhelming; still, players should find the freedom exhilarating. They can launch themselves at satellite dishes to be catapulted in the direction they are pointing, or ride air currents from roof fans, or use manholes for an extra boost to their jump. Goats, of course, can also climb ladders and stairs, and hijack vehicles. Exploration is not without its rewards. There are a variety of collectibles such as the Goatenburg statues scattered around the world amongst other items.
3 Balenci-baa-ga Fashion
As players continue through the game, they will get access to the wardrobe and other various pieces of equipment. Some of it is quest-related and needed to complete certain objectives. However, others are just for the sake of purchasing and outfitting goats to the player's liking.
Equipment marked with lightning bolts next to their icons means that the item has a special ability once equipped. For example, the rocket boots can hasten the goat's dash animation. Players should try, and are encouraged, to use two pieces of equipment at once to see what they can come up with. For example, combining the glider with rocket boots results in swifter soaring through the air that can help reach further-away platforms, such as neighboring roofs on buildings.
Players can also unlock more fashion choices through completing instincts. Instincts are smaller tasks that allow players to earn goat points, which do not increase levels, but act as an in-game currency. These points can purchase clothes and non-essential items to customize the goats however the player wishes, from fur, back, feet, hat, costumes, and horns.
2 Activate Towers
Getting from place to place is easier in Goat Simulator 3 with the inclusion of towers littered around the map, which serve multiple purposes. The towers, once activated, can help to populate the map with potential undiscovered areas and quest lines that players have not interacted with yet.
Once towers are activated, they can be used as fast travel points too. Activating as many towers as possible will benefit players greatly for easier navigation around the sandbox. They can complete quests faster without the need to travel the whole breadth of the world (no matter how much fun it is).
Lastly, towers serve another, more critical purpose. Inside each tower, there is a Goat Castle which acts as a base of operations for players. Putting the Sims in the a simulator game, players can decorate their goat castle with a plethora of decorations including statues, drapes, and busts. More importantly, inside the Goat Castle, there is a door with six chains that can be unlocked by completing quests and earning Illuminati points. (We won't spoil what the Goat Castle doors unlock here.)
1 Multiplayer Madness
For four times the fun and four times the mayhem, both online and couch co-op are available in Goat Simulator 3. From being productive, where everyone helps finish side quests; or plumbing the depths of insanity by throwing each other off buildings; there is plenty in the game that urges friends to be silly and play together. Coffee Stain North has gone as far as to produce a lot of minigames for such an experience. The types of games include:
- King of the hill
- Prop Golf
- Hoofball
- Car Derby
Goat Simulator 3 is available now on PS5, Xbox Series S/X and PC.
