PlatinumGames and Nintendo have recently revealed the file size for the upcoming Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, which will launch next year. This Switch game was announced at The Game Awards 2022, following the release of the highly anticipated Bayonetta 3, with the latter having a long and protracted development cycle. This game however is looking to have a much shorter turnaround time, along with exploring Bayonetta's origins and how she met her first demon, Cheshire.Cereza and the Lost Demon takes things back to the beginning of the timeline, seeing Cereza in her youth. This is even reflected in the game taking on a more storybook-like aesthetic, with the game also shifting genres. Instead of a stylish action game, Cereza and the Lost Demon has a slightly top-down perspective, with slightly more emphasis on platforming and the combat also being markedly different from past entries. This shift in gameplay might also be reflected in its file size, being smaller than the other games.RELATED: Shinji Mikami Reportedly Teaming With PlatinumGames and Capcom on New ProjectAccording to Nintendo's official website and the game's Switch eShop, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is 3.5 GB in size, making it one of the smaller third-party Switch games. This means that players won't need to free up too much space in order to make room on either their mini SD card or system storage if they want a digital download. The game will still have a physical release as well if fans wish to complete their collection of boxed Bayonetta games.

In comparison to past games, Bayonetta 3's file size is roughly 16 GB of space, which is the largest in the series. The first game was roughly 8.6 GB on the Switch, while the second was 12.4 GB, regarding the amount of space required. With Bayonetta Origins, this scaling back has left some fans wondering about the game's content, especially since it's a full-priced release, whether it will be a much shorter game or if the game has been optimized heavily to be much smaller than the others.

This game was revealed shortly after Hideki Kamiya had stated that PlatinumGames was working on a Bayonetta 4, which is said to follow up on the plot threads of Bayonetta 3's contentious ending. With this game taking things back to the beginning of the timeline, it's left some wondering if this is the Bayonetta game he was referring to, though it's only speculation at this time. Regardless, fans have another entry to look forward to that explores a different part of the Bayonetta mythos.
