Developed by PlatinumGames, the Bayonetta franchise has proven to be incredibly popular among Nintendo gamers as it provides an interesting, otherworldly narrative while also supplying the player with intense and flashy action. It is no surprise then, that Bayonetta 3 is one of the most anticipated titles heading to the Nintendo Switch in 2022. For a while, many were worried that the game wouldn't see a 2022 release date, but this has since been confirmed in a trailer for Bayonetta 3, which announced that gamers would see the title in October this year.

With there only being a few months until Bayonetta 3 is released, then, more details have been emerging about the game, especially in regard to its story and where the iconic witch will go next. Already, there has been plenty of speculation on Bayonetta 3's narrative, including one theory that states Cereza could be set for a return given the new hairstyle Bayonetta is seen wearing. Now, some story details have been confirmed for Bayonetta 3 via its rating from the Australian Classification Board. There aren't any heavy spoilers in this rating, but for fans wanting to go into Bayonetta 3 without knowing anything may want to steer clear.

Going through what fans can expect in Bayonetta 3, the Australian Classification Board outlines that the story revolves around human characters traveling through a "series of fantasy environments, battling monsters called Homonculi and an evil being known as Singularity." This will result in Bayonetta and the secondary characters arriving at an island known as Thule, where they will attempt to "prevent Singularity from destroying the known worlds."

The use of the phrase "known worlds," has sparked interest among fans, as it seems to all but confirm the concept of the multiverse making its way to Bayonetta 3. Already, some believed that there would be a plot revolving around more than one universe considering that two Bayonettas appeared in the latest trailer. However, now it seems that the game will go beyond just having more than one witch appearing, and is setting up Singularity as an antagonist that could threaten the multiverse, rather than just the universe Bayonetta currently resides in.

As well, within the Australian Classification Board's rating, there are notes of the themes in Bayonetta 3, including fantasy violence, monsters, and supernatural beings, with one specific note being about a character removing her own heart in order to increase her powers. There's no mention of nudity in the rating, something which Bayonetta 3 has the option of turning off thanks to its Naive Angel mode. Some fans were critical of this change, believing it to be one made by Nintendo, but Bayonetta 3's creator Hideki Kamiya responded to the criticism to say that was not the case.

Bayonetta 3 will release for Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2022.
