One of the more surprising announcements this past December at The Game Awards 2022, was Platinum Games' latest reveal of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and The Lost Demon. Platinum had just released the long awaited Bayonetta 3 on the Switch just a couple of months prior, and was also represented at The Game Awards by Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser, to collect the Best Action Game award it had earned.

For the long 8 years that Bayonetta 3 was in development, fans likely had no idea that a brand-new game in the series was going to be announced that same night, while also getting a release date a few months later in March. However, the announcement may not have even been the most surprising thing about Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and The Lost Demon as the reveal trailer showed off a prequel game with storybook-like visuals that substitutes the fast-paced action for something a bit slower paced.

For fans curious how Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and The Lost Demon plays compared to the more action heavy games in the franchise, Platinum is giving Bayonetta 3 owners a way to download a demo to try out the upcoming title before it launches in March.

Where to Find the Old Picture Book

Before getting access to the Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and The Lost Demon demo, players will need to find a special item inside of Bayonetta 3 called the Old Picture Book. Thankfully, finding it is fairly easy as players can purchase it from Rodin at the Gates of Hell for 4100 Halos. It's listed under the Rodin's Treasures section. However, simply owning the book isn't enough to unlock the secrets held within as players will now need to find 3 unique keys hidden through the game to open it.

Key 1 Location

The first of three keys can be obtained fairly early inside of Bayonetta 3, specifically Chapter 1 during the Chaotic Rift portion of the second stage. Players should simply walk forward a short distance from the starting point to activate Verse 4, which kicks off a short battle. Once over, players should jump onto a small platform that has a collection of lotus flowers on it. Turn left from this point to find the Blue Key floating nearby.

Key 2 Location

Next up is the Green Key, which can be found in Chapter 4 in the Lotus Field portion of the Chaotic Rift. This section is actually near the glowing exit portal, so when players see that straight ahead, turn around and look up to find the Lotus Field, an area that is required in order to earn one of the Bewitchments during the campaign. With the campaign finished, only the Green Key remains up here. In order to access this location, players will need to use the terrain, weapons like the G-Pillar, as well as the Demon Masquerade traversal abilities.

Key 3 Location

Finally, the Red Key can be found in Chapter 13, Verse 1 during a section when players are racing across collapsing sections of Ginnungagap. Eventually, players will come to an area with solid ground featuring a Treasure Chest and a spiral path leading to a higher section. At the top, players should jump to the first two platforms ahead and then jump back to the solid ground of the spiral path. Those two platforms ahead of the player will now crack and fall apart, revealing the Red Key which can now be acquired. Players will likely fall to their death during this sequence, but it doesn't matter because the Red Key is kept regardless.

How to Access the Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and The Lost Demon Demo

With the Tri-colored keys in hand, the book's locks will be opened, and a message will appear asking players if they want to be taken to a special secret chapter. Alternatively, the Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and The Lost Demon demo can also be accessed from the Chapter select menu after all three keys have been acquired as well.

During the demo, players can also obtain an item called Super Mirror 0 by collecting flowers which unlocks an outfit based on Cereza's costume to wear in Bayonetta 3.

Bayonetta 3 is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
