The original Bayonetta was released in 2009 but has since received a remaster in 2020 as part of a bundle pack withVanquish. Players control the eponymous character through a story packed with quick-time event-filled combat.
While new weapons have been added to Bayonetta 2, the original Bayonetta still offers players quite a selection. However, obtaining them is where the real work comes in. Players need to give Angelic Hymns Gold LPs to Rodin at The Gates of Hell. These hymns will call forth demons from Inferno, where they are then forged into weapons upon defeat and capture. Each weapon has a different Wicked Weave and requires different Golden LPs to unlock.
In the first Bayonetta, there are a total of 13 weapons including Jeanne’s variant. Note that players will need to unlock Jeanne in Bayonetta before they can play as her.
1. Umbran Sisters
Information: According to the in-game description, these guns are used by Umbra Witches at the start of their training.
Unlock Requirements: Equipped on hands & feet. Only used in Bayonetta's "Records of Time, Chapter 1: Verse 7" and "Chapter II: Verse 1."
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Punches & Wicked Kicks.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Umbran Sisters
2. Handguns
Information: Equipped on hands & feet. Arguably the weakest weapon in the game, despite sharing the same combos as Scarborough Fair. Handguns have the weakest firepower and strength.
Wicked Weaves: N/A
Unlock Requirements: Only used in the Prologue on a first playthrough. If players wish, they can gain Handguns permanently by completing the game on Normal.

3. Scarborough Fair
Information: Equipped on hands & feet. These are Bayonetta's signature weapon in Bayonetta. While its strength may pale in comparison to later weapons, Scarborough Fair is a well-balanced weapon in both ranged and melee combat.
Unlock Requirements: Complete the Prologue; these replace the Handguns.
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Punches & Wicked Kicks
Jeanne’s Weapon: All 4 One
4. Onyx Roses
Information: Equipped on hands & feet. Onyx Roses have the same combos as Scarborough Fair, but their Stun rate is higher and they can damage nearby enemies with its Charge Modifier.
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Punches & Wicked Kicks
Unlock Requirements: Get the "Trois Marches Militaires" by defeating Beloved.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Garnet Roses
5. Shuraba
Information: Equipped on hands. A well-rounded melee weapon that excels in strength, speed, and combos.
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Slashes & Wicked Stabs
Unlock Requirements: Requires "Quasi una Fantasia", which can be obtained by defeating the two Beloved in Chapter II, verse 5.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Angel Slayer
6. Kulshedra
Information: Equipped on hands. As a whip weapon, Kulshedra excels in its reach and speed. Players can use this weapon to fight enemies at a safer range.
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Slaps & Wicked Wicked Backhands.
Unlock Requirements: Obtain Verse 4 and Verse 8 of "Fantaisie-Impromptu" from defeating the first Fairness, and entering Paradiso respectively. Both Golden LP can be found in Chapter III.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Vritra
7. Durga
Information: Equipped on hands and feet. Durga can switch between slow/powerful fire claws and nimble/weak electric claws. Each element (Durga Fire, Durga Lightning) uses different combos for Bayonetta.
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Nail Thrusts & Wicked Claw Swipes
Unlock Requirements: Sonate in DK.448 verse 3, 5, and 8 in Chapter V.
- Verse 3: After the fight with Grace and Glory.
- Verse 5: Cross the falling bridge after fighting Fearless and Fairness.
- Verse 8: After ascending Yggdrasil's Staff, halfway up the snake statue.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Kali
8. Odette
Information: Equipped on feet. Allows Bayonetta to "slide" when dodging. Odette has high speed and can freeze enemies for a short period of time. The freeze status effect only works on non-bosses.
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Kicks & Wicked Sweeping Kicks
Unlock Requirements: "Les Patineurs Waltz op.183" in Chapter VI.
- First Part: Located in a chest behind the player at the start of Chapter VI.
- Second Part: In a pile of rocks near the entrance where the player fought two Inspired.
- Third Part: Given as a reward for beating Joy.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Karen
9. Lt. Col. Kilgore
Information: Equipped on hands and feet. Slow, but the strongest ranged weapon in the Bayonetta. Deals massive damage that has a high stagger rate.
Wicked Weaves: Launched Wicked Punches & Launched Wicked Kicks
Unlock Requirements: Verse 1, 6, and 9 for "Walkürenritt" in Chapter 9.
- Verse 1: In a destructible wall at the end of a courtyard.
- Verse 6: After defeating Kinship.
- Verse 9: After the Gates of Hell portal. Like Verse 1, it's hidden behind a destructible wall at the end of the original bridge (not the golden path).
Jeanne’s Weapon: Col. Slade
10. Sai Fung
Information: Equipped on hands. Quick and capable of staggering certain enemies, but its damage per hit is weaker than other weapons.
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Punches & Wicked Kicks
Unlock Requirements: Complete 100 chapters on Normal difficulty or higher. This can be the same chapter so long as it meets the requirements. The fastest way is to replay the prologue until the player reaches 100 "completions."
Jeanne’s Weapon: 唐龍 Tang Lung
11. Bazillions
Information: Equipped on hands and feet. Functions the same as Scarborough Fair, but deals more damage.
Wicked Weaves: Wicked Punches & Wicked Kicks
Unlock Requirements: Complete all Bayonetta chapters on Hard mode.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Bazillions
12. Pillow Talk
Information: Equipped on hands. Has the same combos as Shuraba, but it can't use Wicked Weaves. Players will get the most out of this weapon in its Charged Forms.
Wicked Weaves: N/A; Charged Forms.
Unlock Requirements: Complete the game on Non-Stop ∞ Climax.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Bloody Moon
13. Rodin
Information: Equipped on hands and feet. While it's more difficult to score Platinum combos using this weapon, Rodin makes up for the lack of combos in its pure strength. It is another weapon that cannot use Wicked Weaves.
Wicked Weaves: N/A
Unlock Requirements: In Bayonetta, collect 10 million halos. These include Halos that were spent, meaning they don't need to be collected all at once. Buy the Platinum Ticket at The Gates of Hell for 999,999 Halos and fight Father Rodin. Players will receive the Rodin weapon as a reward for beating him.
Jeanne’s Weapon: Rodin
Bayonetta is available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 while Bayonetta and Vanquish: 10th Anniversary Bundle is on PS4 and Xbox One.
