While EA and DICE continue ramping up hype and anticipation for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront, the studios continue to promote their recently released Battlefield Hardline. And despite the challenges the game has experienced since launch, the Battlefield Hardline team continues to support the game with new content and expansions.

In preparation for the release of Battlefield Hardline’s second expansion, dubbed Battlefield Hardline: Robbery, EA has released some details about the DLC on the Battlefield Hardline website.

As the name implies, the expansion will focus on the game’s robbery activities by introducing Squad Heist, a new 5v5 game mode that pits one squad of crooks against one squad of cops to see if the robbers can make out with the cash, or be brought down by the police. Similar to the game’s larger Heist mode, criminals will use a drill to break into two vaults, grab the loot, and hoof it for an escape location. Meanwhile, the cops will attempt to stop the robbers from disappearing with the money.

By keeping the teams small, Squad Heist will surely require more communication and teamwork than other game modes. That point is highlighted by the fact that the criminals will only have 25 deploy tickets, which can deplete very quickly if they’re not careful.

In addition to the new Squad Heists game mode, Robbery will also include a handful of other goodies for players like:

  • Four expansive maps: The Docks, Break Pointe, Museum, and Precinct 7
  • 4 new weapons
  • 2 new gadgets
  • 2 new factional vehicles and new vehicle upgrades
  • New camos and vehicle paints
  • The Legendary Super Feature

Since the theme of this expansion is the Big Score, it’s likely that the new maps will focus heavily on game modes like Squad Heists, though they will probably support other game modes, such as Blood Money, Team Deathmatch, Rescue, and Crosshair. However, this is speculation until EA reveals more about the DLC and new maps.

With Robbery coming to Battlefield Hardline Premium members in September 2015, fans can expect Electronic Arts will have more to say about Squad Heist and the new maps, weapons, gadgets, and vehicles in the coming weeks.
