The Assault class will always be the go-to choice for players who want to raise hell in Battlefield 5. With a variety of assault rifles (including the legendary M1 Garand) to choose from, the Assault class is already well-positioned to succeed on the battlefield. But its gadgets take it to another level, allowing the Assault player to become a tank hunter.

Assault players in BF5 can choose from an assortment of rocket launchers, with a further choice between more anti-tank or anti-infantry weapons for their second gadget. Which gadget players choose will constrain their abilities in a fight: if you choose anti-air weapons, don’t expect to stand a chance against a tank. But if players read the situation and respond with the right gadget at the right time, victory might be just around the corner.

6 Lunge Mine

Also available as a Support class gadget, the lunge mine isn’t always the most effective weapon on the battlefield. After all, it can never fully destroy an enemy tank, however, it can disable it. In addition, the blast from a lunge mine drops 20 points off a player’s health and knocks them to the ground, rendering them helpless in the heat of battle.

However, the lunge mine (effectively a bomb on the end of a pole) does guarantee an instant kill against enemy infantry. While charging an enemy head-on isn’t very effective, flanking around out of line-of-sight will help Assault players reach their targets in one piece. Players use the lunge mine by charging their enemy – much like the bayonet charge from Battlefield 1 – and ramming the explosive tip into either a vehicle or foot soldier.

5 Fliegerfaust

If you want to do a rendezook in BF5 as the Assault class, you might want to try out the Fliegerfaust. While its rockets are nearly useless against tanks or other land vehicles, the Fliegerfaust’s 9-rocket volley is one of the easier ways to knock enemy aircraft out of the sky. And although its more serious rocket launcher comrades, like the Bazooka, for example, are better suited to taking out tanks, the Fliegerfaust’s multiple rockets makes aiming at enemy aircraft much more forgiving.

Keep in mind that its effective range is much shorter than some other rocket launchers in the game, meaning that enemy pilots can simply fly higher to avoid a Fliegerfaust. One serious downside is that it can’t ever kill a plane at full health, but some anti-air support from a player’s squad can help finish it off.

4 Frag Grenade Rifle

Love it or hate it, the frag grenade rifle can be pretty effective. It works a lot like the “noob tube” in Call of Duty: it can chuck high-powered explosives far distances, to devastating effect. Useful when clearing out buildings, the frag grenade rifle has one-shot kill potential when landing direct hits, and its splash damage radius allows users to damage multiple enemies before pushing.

Coupled with a grenade or so, the frag grenade rifle is a menace in close-quarters combat. The grenades can damage vehicles, but don’t expect to go tank-busting with it any time soon.

3 Anti-Tank Bundle Grenade

While technically not a gadget, it would be a crime not to mention one of the best explosives, the Anti-Tank Bundle Grenade, since combining it with other high-explosive gadgets can greatly increase an Assault player’s odds of taking down a tank single-handedly.

Lob these against tanks after unloading a few rockets into enemy armor, and you might stand a chance of destroying them in one go. Ammunition can be scarce in BF5, so taking all the explosives you can into a fight can often make the difference between life and death.

2 Sticky Dynamite

Probably the closest thing to the C4 Battlefield players have come to know and love, sticky dynamite is the perfect tool to blast apart enemy tanks, especially when the element of surprise is on your side.

Three well-placed bundles of dynamite should do the job on just about any vehicle, including heavy armor, and even the two sticks of dynamite that players spawn with are effective against light armor. As the name suggests, it will stick to enemy vehicles, so even if they try to run, they won’t be going far.

1 M1A1 Bazooka

Introduced during BF5’s final chapter of post-release content, the Bazooka is a great rocket launcher that can be used against vehicles and infantry. With very little projectile drop and high damage packed into each rocket, the Bazooka can be used in multiple scenarios. Pinned down by a sniper? The Bazooka is a great counter-sniping tool when a player’s aim is up to the task. Enemy tanks dominating the battlefield? Introduce them to your little friend.

The Bazooka hits for less damage than its Panzerfaust and PIAT counterparts, but its precision at long range makes it a powerful choice, especially when enemy tanks are sitting out of bounds or are simply too far away to hit with other weapons.

Battlefield 5 is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
