Though eagerly awaited at first, Battlefield 2042 has encountered one criticism after another following its launch late last year. Though many fans of the series aren't thrilled with how DICE handled the content included as part of this release, bugs have been a major point of contention as well, with patches bringing about much-needed tweaks and fixes to the game.Battlefield 2042 was due to get its next major patch, Update 3.3, in mid to late February, but this is no longer the plan, according to the latest announcement from DICE. The release of Update 3.3 has now been pushed back to early March, meaning that players will need to wait for the next revision of the game's scoreboard UI a bit longer after all.RELATED: EA Didn't Report Battlefield 2042 Sales Numbers During Investor MeetingTo that end, DICE pushed out a small hotfix to address the instabilities caused by the release of Battlefield 2042's Update 3.2. Almost immediately afterward, the official Battlefield Twitter account posted an announcement that Update 3.3 would not be coming out sometime this month after all. According to the tweet, DICE will use the extra time to improve Update 3.3 across the board, as well as to include additional changes that hadn't previously been planned for it.

One of the highlights of Update 3.3 is that it's going to add an all-new upgraded scoreboard UI for Battlefield 2042. This refresh is supposed to include a better tally of the ongoing match, including (but not limited to) a more granular look at the player's statistics and ribbon progression. The new scoreboard would also shuffle around information that's already visible in-game right now, making it easier to check out at a glance.

In an unsurprising turn of events, EA admitted that it's unhappy with Battlefield 2042's performance metrics. With an increasingly negative community outlook, every piece of content and bug fixing update that gets pushed back seems to stoke the flames even further, making the game's future rather uncertain.

The most immediate issue, however, is that Update 3.3 alone won't be enough to turn the game around. It doesn't help that Battlefield 2042 Season 1 got pushed back as well, meaning that even those players that enjoy the game may run out of content before new stuff comes out. With rumors of the game going free-to-play swirling about, it seems that Battlefield 2042's plight isn't anywhere near over just yet.

Battlefield 2042 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X platforms.
