DICE continues to work on its latest shooter, Battlefield 2042. Its incoming Title Update 4.0 might bring some of the most significant changes delivered to the game so far. A team member from the DICE states that update 4.0 for Battlefield 2042 will have over 400 individual fixes and the developer also has detailed changes fans can expect to see when the update launches next week.It has been five months since Battlefield 2042 launched to an overwhelmingly negative fan reception due to various bugs and changes to the core Battlefield gameplay. Since the game’s launch, DICE has continually reiterated its intent to listen to the Battlefield community’s feedback and provide concrete plans to fix the state of Battlefield 2042. March’s Title Update 3.3 added some much-needed features like the sorely missing scoreboard, with the developers promising that a bigger update with more fixes was on the way. That update comes in the form of Title Update 4.0 and is set to launch sometime next week.RELATED: Rumor: Battlefield 2042 Leaks 3 New MapsAhead of next week’s update, DICE community manager Kevin Johnson announced on Twitter that Battlefield 2042’s April update will feature a massive “400+ Individual Fixes, Bugs, and QoL Improvements.” The community manager then detailed a handful of incoming changes to Operators, XP, and gameplay balancing. Operators Rao and Paik will have their individual traits updated, while Sundance will be receiving a fix for their grenade belt. On the XP balancing side of things, Ribbon commendations have been tweaked so that players unlock them much faster on all modes, and XP for Support Actions has been rebalanced to emphasize teamwork. Additionally, update 4.0 will bring some vehicle changes to Battlefield 2042; Kevin promises that infantry/vehicle counterplay “still has some bite.” And lastly, weapon attachments have been overhauled to ensure that guns feel unique and impactful when choosing a loadout.

Despite this robust list of changes coming to Battlefield 2042, with over 400 more fixes still on the way, some fans feel as if it isn’t enough. Long-standing issues such as performance problems, the game’s squad system, and mouse input troubles persist, and it is uncertain if Title Update 4.0 will alleviate these issues. With Battlefield 2042’s first season starting sometime in the Summer, DICE might have a troubled road ahead as it juggles content updates and patches to fix the game.

Battlefield 2042 is still having a rough go at it in the public eye almost half a year since its release. This week, Battlefield 2042 dropped below 1,000 concurrent players on Steam, and its overall daily average of players continues to decrease. Additionally, EA has stated that development on the next Battlefield is already underway, potentially cutting Battlefield 2042’s lifecycle short, but how much longer EA and DICE will support 2042 remains to be seen. Title Update 4.0 comes out next week and promises to upgrade the Battlefield 2042 experience significantly. Perhaps DICE can still deliver a much-needed course correction and bring back some players that need their Battlefield fix.

Battlefield 2042 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
