Battlefield 2042 is gearing up for its second season, with a cinematic trailer highlighting many of the new battle pass rewards in a spectacular fashion. Battlefield 2042 players can look forward to unlocking lots of new gear, including a new specialist and various skins, takedowns, vehicles, and weapons.

Season 1 of Battlefield 2042, Zero Hour, kicked off back in June and was generally considered a step forward for the game after its disastrous reception at launch. Battlefield 2042 was heavily criticized at release by players, earning around 80,000 negative reviews on Steam with many complaints aimed at the lack of important features such as crucial personal statistics tracking along with bugs, performance, and balance issues. Many of these problems were addressed through Battlefield 2042's Season 1 update, and it looks like the game will be receiving a similar upgrade with the arrival of Season 2 on August 30.

The trailer for Season 2: Master of Arms is an impressive presentation for a battle pass announcement, showing off many unlocks from the 100 tiers through well-edited gameplay footage. Particularly of note is the new support specialist, Charlie Crawford, whose gadget is a deployable mounted vulcan minigun protected by a large shield. Crawford is unlocked at Battle Pass Tier 4, and his Cache Point trait also provides revived teammates with additional gadget ammo. A new vehicle, the highly mobile four-seat EBLC-RAM, is a free unlock at Tier 16 and features a top-mounted machine gun as well as an automatic main gun.

Some new weapons for Battlefield 2042 are displayed in the trailer including the PF51 at Tier 22, a pistol-SMG hybrid secondary weapon that uses a P90 magazine, and the lightweight Avancys LMG at Tier 34, which is designed for laying out sustained fire. Also shown is the AM40 unlockable at Tier 10, which is a compact assault rifle best suited for close-quarters fighting. A new gadget, the concussion grenade, is unlockable at Tier 28 and disables enemies with a blinding light for several seconds. On the cosmetic front, a variety of specialist skins including ghillie suits with matching weapon skins are shown as well as a particularly brutal Blunt Force takedown unlockable at Tier 20 which involves a hammer and one unfortunate opponent.

The response to the trailer has been remarkably positive based on feedback from viewers on YouTube, which is hopefully a good sign for Battlefield 2042's success in the next season. With DICE intent on improving the game past its rocky launch, it's possible Battlefield 2042 may make a comeback in the eyes of the first-person shooter scene.
