The previous total, which was achieved at Battlefield 2042’s launch in November 2021, was sitting at 100,590 peak users. Fans should note that this number is based on data from Steam Charts, while SteamDB shows the peak concurrent player count to be 105,397. Regardless, it shows that more Steam users have played Battlefield 2042 recently than at launch, and there are some specific reasons for this increase.
Battlefield 2042 is currently free on Steam, giving players access to the game until October 16. This move has resulted in a huge increase in Battlefield 2042’s player count on Steam, with interested customers also being able to get a discount on the title should they decide to purchase it. Fans on Xbox and PlayStation can play Battlefield 2042 for free during this period as well, so all platforms could have seen a similar increase in active player count.
