Battlefield 2042 is DICE's latest offering in its longrunning Battlefield series, bringing the battle to the future for better or for worse. With a recent trailer showing off Battlefield 2042's ray tracing, it's certainly the flashiest title to date, which is saying a lot knowing the massive destruction possible in previous titiles.

After a beta filled with questionable choices and promises from DICE to fix the issues, many players are eager to jump into Battlefield 2042 again or for the first time to see if it's been straightened out. As it turns out, some players will have that opportunity earlier than others.

Battlefield 2042 officially launches in two weeks, with the main release date being November 19 for everyone to be able to play the game as much as they want. However, players who are subscribed to EA Play, which includes being subscribed to Xbox Game Pass and/or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, will get to play the game on November 12. That's right, being subscribed to Xbox Game Pass gives access to Battlefield 2042 maps and modes and everything else a full week early. As of this article, there is no known difference between what Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive.

To be clear, EA Play, Xbox Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will only have access to 10 hours of gameplay beginning on November 12, a sort of trial run so to speak. Those subscribed to EA Play Pro, however, will receive access to everything the game has to offer on November 12. Even so, anyone with Xbox Game Pass will still get a great deal as they will get to try the game early to see how things like the ping system of Battlefield 2042 is improved in the final product.

It's an excellent opportunity to try out the game for free with a subscription and see if it's worth ultimately purchasing for good when it inevitably rotates out of Xbox Game Pass. Hopefully 10 hours will be enough to see if balance concerns around specialist Ji-Soo Paik and other issues are resolved.

Despite the game being free early for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, it is also being offered in several bundles including Gold and Ultimate which give more and earlier access in exchange for more money. Hopefully players try the game through Xbox Game Pass first and see if the bizarre character bugs and other issues are solved before committing to a purchase.

Battlefield 2042 releases fully on November 19 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
