A new limited time event called Arkangel Directive is coming to Battlefield 2042 and will bring with it a new game mode called Control. Now in its fifth season, Battlefield 2042 is still providing players with balance changes and new content to enjoy almost two years after its underwhelming launch in 2021.After taking feedback into account and reworking most of its launch maps with the long awaited Hourglass rework still on the way, Battlefield 2042 has put in some work over the past several seasons to improve its standing with fans. While not massive, the multiplayer shooter does still have a dedicated community of players who've been enjoying the robust changes that have been made, such as the return of the franchise's beloved class system that had been absent until earlier this year. Now, with many of its core design issues addressed, DICE's focus is on providing a sufficient amount of content in the form of events and limited time modes.RELATED: Battlefield Streamer Targeted by Entire Lobbies Full Of Stream SnipersThe Arkangel Directive's new 24v24 game mode Control will run from July 11 to July 25 and will feature rewards for players to earn across its two weeks. The mode will take place on three Battlefield 2042 maps, Orbital, Reclaimed, and Valparaiso, and will unfold in three phases with players fighting for control of various satellites positioned across the map. During a match, the most efficient players will earn Ascension Points which can be used to drop in vehicles that may be instrumental to finding success in the smaller 24v24 mode.

Battlefield 2042's two-week model for limited time modes means that a new set of rewards will become available during the final week of the event. In the first week players can earn a background, a weapon charm, and an Epic weapon skin, while week two doles out a different background and weapon skin as well as an Epic headgear named "Interneural," which seems to be the crown jewel of the event. Additionally, the Arkangel Directive event will see three new purchasable cosmetic bundles added to Battlefield 2042's in-game store.

While the future of the franchise beyond Battlefield 2042 remains unclear with several different projects underway at EA, DICE is continuing to support its current playerbase with reworked maps, new modes, and limited time events for players to enjoy. With Battlefield 2042's sixth season already confirmed, fans shouldn't have to wait too long to learn about even more content coming to the futuristic squad-based shooter next.

Battlefield 2042 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
