DC Studios has confirmed that the Batman reboot film has found its director. The Flash director Andy Muschietti will officially enter the Batcave to helm Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The reboot was confirmed as part of the changes mapped out by new DC co-presidents James Gunn and Peter Safran earlier this year, and it seems like the studio is moving ahead with bringing the project to life.

The announcement of Muschietti's involvement in the Batman reboot comes as The Flash premieres in theaters globally. It is also confirmed that Muschietti's sister, Barbara, will also be a part of the film as a producer alongside Gunn and Safran. Batman: The Brave and the Bold is one of the biggest projects in the upcoming DC slate, and the new DC bosses have placed their trust in the Muschiettis even before The Flash's first weekend numbers are released.

While it might have surprised some DC fans to hear the announcement, Gunn and Safran knew that Muschietti was the right choice when they envisioned the Batman reboot. “We saw The Flash even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan,” Gunn and Safran said about Muschietti in an interview with Variety. Gunn has been praising and supporting the film publicly on social media recently, and for him, there was “only one choice” when selecting a director for Batman: The Brave and the Bold. With Barbara also on board, Gunn believes that they couldn’t have a better team as they “embark on this thrilling new adventure in the DCU.”

Batman Brave and Bold

The news of the Batman reboot film getting its director has received mixed reactions from DC fans. Many were surprised that the announcement was made just when Muschietti's The Flash premiered in theaters. However, others believe that he has managed to direct a film successfully that features multiple variants of Batman, so he could handle directing one in the reboot. Batman: The Brave and the Bold will be part of Gunn and Safran's inaugural DC slate titled “Gods and Monsters,” which includes the much-awaited Superman: Legacy.

Gunn and Safran spoke about Batman: Brave and the Bold for the first time in January. This version of the Caped Crusader differs from the one Matt Reeves created in The Batman with Robert Pattinson. The reboot film will feature Batman and his son, Damien Wayne, as Robin. It will be based on the comic series created by Grant Morrison, which introduced Batman to his son. In past interviews, Gunn confessed to being a huge fan of the series and referred to Morrison's work as “exceptionally influential” on the new DC Universe.
