While the free to play Battle Royale mode really put Fortnite on the map years ago, it has managed to sustain the success through countless updates and additions over the years. For most fans, a major reason for this outside of the constant seasonal changes is Epic's reliance on crossover events with other franchises and IPs. This has extended to gameplay and cosmetic additions, as well as major events like the Global Music series involving names like Marshmello, Ariana Grande, and more.

Over the past couple of years, Epic Games has seemingly doubled down on cosmetic microtransactions ranging from video games, to TV, to movies, and more. Marvel has been a big part of that as a wide variety of character skins have been available to purchase including the most recent additions of Gambit and Rogue from the X-Men. Many times, new cosmetic skins are released in tandem with movie or tv releases, which appears to be the case with the latest Fortnite rumor.

With Warner Bros set to release The Batman in theaters on March 4, the latest Fortnite rumor from Twitter user @KwingReviews indicates the Robert Pattinson version of the character is getting set to drop into the game as well. KwingReviews later clarified that their source told them specifically that the Batman movie skin would be coming in the next week or so to Fortnite specifically, though no additional information was provided.

While fans should take this with a grain of salt as it isn't from Epic or WB directly, there is a bit of good news for those hoping to see the new Batsuit arrive in Fortnite. The source that KwingReviews got his information from, correctly predicted Deathstroke's addition to Fortnite last summer, so there's a bit of history here. While the comic version of Batman has already been made available, alongside some other comic villains, fans are also hoping that movie versions of Catwoman and Riddler get added as well.

While fans will have to wait a bit longer to see if The Batman is set to be the next major addition, other rumors and franchises have continued to float around as well. Just recently, leaked material may have accidentally spoiled the cosmetic render for Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed character Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Even John Cena has started potentially hinting that his character, Peacemaker, could also be joining the popular online battle royale some point soon, as well.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
