Recent coverage seemingly confirms the rumors of who is directing Batman: The Brave and the Bold for James Gunn's upcoming DCU reboot. However, without confirmation from DC Studios or those parties involved, it is still just a rumor at the end of the day. While promoting The Flash, Andy and Barbara Muschietti have been asked if they would be willing to stick around for the James Gunn DCU reboot, specifically for Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The Muschietti siblings have noted it's too early to discuss such possibilities but insist they are still part of the DC Studios family. This implies that those discussions are happening, seeing how it is something that they can’t talk about yet, but that doesn’t make it a done deal. Even so, this possibility gained traction among insiders, and the floodgates opened to multiple claims reporting it as fact.RELATED: The Flash Director Plays Coy When Asked About Possibility Of Directing DCU BatmanAfter confirming with “multiple sources,” One Take News reported that Andy Muschietti is set to direct Batman: The Brave and the Bold after early praise for The Flash. “This news shouldn’t come as a surprise,” OTN states. “Muschietti's future with DC has long been teased and James Gunn himself has said he wanted Muschietti for another project.” However, OTN also reports that Warner Bros. Discovery has not responded to their “multiple requests for comment,” so despite what is being said behind the scenes, it is still early enough for anything to happen, especially since The Flash has not come out yet.

To further this, MyTimeToShineHello confirmed these rumors and added that The Flash screenwriter Christina Hodson, who also wrote Birds of Prey, is set to write Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Some people criticized Birds of Prey for how it depicted Bat Family member Cassandra Cain. So, Batman: The Brave and the Bold may be an opportunity for Hodson to have a second chance at writing a Batman Family film after losing the battle against Warner Bros. to adapt a more comic-accurate depiction of Cain. That said, scooper Umberto Gonzalez alleges Hodson is not writing The Brave and the Bold. Gonzalez makes this claim despite crediting MyTimeToShineHello for having solid sourcing in a separate post claiming neither Andy Muschietti nor Hodson has a deal with Warner Bros. due to the writers' strike, which might be the only reason an official announcement hasn't been made one way or the other.

If The Flash bombs at the box office, the early praise may no longer matter, which would recontextualize the desire for Muschietti to direct and Hodson to write under those same pretenses. Fans may remember the fiasco between Warner Bros. and Ben Affleck when the actor was confirmed to write, direct, and star in his Batman film only for Affleck to exit from the project altogether, and the honor of directing ultimately went to Matt Reeves and the film becoming The Batman with Robert Pattinson. The takeaway is that the Muschietti siblings and DC Studios are in talks behind the scenes and that Batman: Brave and the Bold is likely on the table, but it is still too early to say what will happen, especially without confirmation from the studio and The Flash not having released yet.
