Batman: Arkham Knight is seven years old at this point, but the game's infamous Man-Bat jump scare is still terrifying new players. Twitch streamer MegMage recently went viral on TikTok by sharing a clip from her Batman: Arkham Knight stream where she reacted to the Man-Bat jump scare. The TikTok has amassed over 200,000 views with over 32,000 likes and 350 comments at the time of this writing.

Fans of Batman: Arkham Knight will remember the Man-Bat jump scare well. While exploring the game's open world Gotham City, players get used to using Batman's grappling hook to climb to the top of buildings. Players do this so much that it quickly becomes routine. The Batman: Arkham Knight developers use this familiarity to execute one of gaming's best jump scares, as there's one point where Batman tries to grapple to a rooftop only to come face to face with the monstrous Man-Bat.

MegMage's clip captures this exact Batman: Arkham Knight Man-Bat jump scare moment and shows the streamer's reaction to it. Unsurprisingly, MegMage screams in horror as the Man-Bat screeches and swipes at Batman with his wing before flying off into the night sky. While later encounters with Man-Bat in Batman: Arkham Knight aren't quite as scary, longtime fans will know that this is just the beginning of Batman's interactions with the creature.

The Man-Bat jump scare in Batman: Arkham Knight kicks off the side quest called Creature of the Night, which is all about Batman trying to apprehend Man-Bat. After the initial jump scare, players can take Man-Bat out of the sky and get a blood sample from him. Players have to repeat this process a couple of times before they can take Man-Bat out for good and complete the Creature of the Night side quest.

Engaging side quests like this were well-received when Batman: Arkham Knight first launched, and it will definitely be interesting to see if Rocksteady's next game incorporates anything similar. It's been seven long years since Batman: Arkham Knight first released, but Rocksteady's next game is expected to drop at some point in 2023 in the form of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League takes place in the Batman: Arkham universe, but it should serve as a departure from Rocksteady's previous titles in a number of ways. Besides the fact that the game is focused on the titular Suicide Squad, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will also be a co-op experience, whereas the Batman games were primarily single-player affairs.

Batman: Arkham Knight is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
