Perhaps one of the most anticipated games known to be in development is the upcoming Batman game. WB Games Montreal has previously teased the project through various cryptic Batman images but has stopped short of officially revealing the game. Reports indicate it was supposed to at E3 this year, but that was before its cancellation. Now, it seems there may be a new date for its reveal.

The DC Fandome was announced today and is a 24-hour virtual event focused on all things DC, from films, tv, series, games, comics, and more. The event is officially slated for Saturday, August 22, at 10 AM PT/12 PM CT and is completely free—no badge required to enjoy the festivities. Among the various comics, characters, and more confirmed to be there, there's one more interesting tidbit of information: the phrase, "new announcements from WB Games."

In truth, this could be any number of things and it doesn't necessarily state "reveal," but WB Games only has so many projects that are currently known. There's Montreal's potentially non-ArkhamBatman game, Rocksteady's project, and the Harry Potter RPG, so of these, the most fitting to be present is, of course, Batman.

On top of that, this event lines up with rumors that surfaced online days before this was announced. YouTuber KnightWing01, who claims to have sources on the matter, stated that he's heard of the Batman game getting announced in August followed by a November 2020 launch. It does seem a bit strange to have such a short turnaround time between its reveal and release, but at the same time, this game has been teased well over 6 months now. For many, the entirety of Batman's marketing has been strange.

It's also not like the game needs a ton of in-depth marketing to sell; it is, in some form, a continuance of the fan-favorite Batman Arkham series after all. For now, fans will just have to wait and see if these rumors prove true and what WB Games has up its sleeves for DC Fandome, but if it's not Batman, it's just one more strange moment of the game's pre-launch build up.
