A new Batgirl set photo has revealed a nod to Batman and Robin in the upcoming HBO Max film. Now fans are speculating on whether or not Batgirl will feature an appearance from Batman and Robin or if this is photographed easter egg is the extent of the their role in this project.

The Batgirl photo shows a painted mural that features the iconic DC comic book duo: Batman and Robin. The Batman in this artwork looks very similar to the Batman portrayed by Michael Keaton in the Tim Burton Batman films. For those who may not remember, Keaton is rumored to be coming back in multiple different DC projects within the next two years.

The new Batgirl set photos show a closer look at a mural that seemingly features the Keaton version of Batman, who stands beside sidekick Robin. Keaton is said to appear in Batgirl, so his apparent inclusion on the mural may confirm those reports. After all, Keaton will star in the upcoming Flash movie, so it appears Warner Bros. and DC have big plans for his version of Batman. Having two Batmen in the same universe suggests DC Films will be bringing in the multiverse for its storylines moving forward, similar to what Marvel Studios did with Spider-Man: No Way Home. Ben Affleck makes his last appearance as Batman in the Flash movie, so fans who were hoping to see him appear in Batgirl may be disappointed.

Another interesting thing is that Batman in the DC Extended Universe is played by Affleck, not Keaton. Maybe this mural just shows an older costume worn by Affleck's version prior to the death of this universe's Robin. Anything is possible, and with the upcoming TheFlash movie heavily rumored to be changing the timeline, it means the DCEU as fans know it could be different once Batgirl hits HBO Max.

Hopefully DC knows what it's doing, as it has a list of some highly-anticipated projects for next couples of years, including a sequel to Shazam and Aquaman as well as Black Adam and The Batman. DC is banking on Batgirl as a way to secure its future and keep fans on board. Maybe with all of these changes, DC will finally bring back Ray Fisher's Cyborg and give him the respect he deserves.

Batgirl is expected to be released on HBO Max in 2022.
