A new ratings board leak suggests that Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster will be coming to PC as well as the previously-announced Nintendo Switch. Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean first released in Japan in 2003 and earned mostly positive reviews at the time. It was followed up by Baiten Kaitos Origins, aka Baiten Kaitos 2, which earned a similar reaction from fans of the genre.

For two decades, Baiten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and Baiten Kaitos Origins have remained "trapped" on the Nintendo GameCube. However, Bandai Namco made the shock announcement earlier this year that both Baiten Kaitos games would be making a comeback as part of a special HD remaster collection. Baiten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster were announced at a Nintendo Direct in February, and it's long been assumed that the games would be Nintendo Switch exclusives.

However, there is now evidence to suggest that Baiten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster could come to PC as well as Switch when it launches later this year. As spotted by Gematsu, the Film and Publication Board of South Africa has leaked the existence of a PC port for Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster. While fans shouldn't take this as an official announcement, ratings board leaks are almost always legitimate and this is a very good sign that a PC port of the game exists.

Only two questions remain: when the Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster PC will be announced and if it will release on the same day as the Nintendo Switch version. Since Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster was announced during a Nintendo Direct and the original games were developed by Nintendo's Monolith Soft, chances are good that the collection will at least be a timed-Switch exclusive. So unless an official announcement claims otherwise, fans shouldn't expect the PC port to be available on the same day as the Nintendo Switch version. As far as when such an announcement will happen, one has to imagine it will be at some point after the game's Switch launch, whenever that may be.

There is some excitement for Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster and the quality of life improvements that the collection is bringing to the table, but fans have also voiced their disappointment at the lack of an English dub. In any case, fans of the games can look forward to playing the remaster on Switch at some point later this year, while those on PC may be able to hold out for a port on their platform of choice.

Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster will launch September 19 for Nintendo Switch.
