Players must make a crucial decision after getting to know Kate and Thickskin at the Hunters’ Camp in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Although most choices are a result of the Closure event in a Haunting Case, this particular decision will take place during a Main Quest at the beginning of the game.

Thickskin is one of the many characters you will encounter while trying to help the settlers at the Hunters’ Camp in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Kate is Thickskin’s sister, who seems to always disagree with her but respects her a lot.

Should You Spare Thickskin In Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden?

should you spare thickskin in banishers ghosts of new eden

Sparing Thickskin may not be the most ideal option considering her cruel methods of running the Hunters’ Camp, but it does have some benefits. Players who choose to spare Thickskin will not only receive valuable rewards as promised, but Kate will finally be free of her guilt. Concerning Antea’s fate, sparing Thickskin will benefit players if they wish to ascend Antea at the end of the game.

Upon defeating the Beast in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and sparing Thickskin, Kate will be relieved and approach the monster's body. Touching the corpse will trigger Deborah’s ghost to appear. Kate will then apologize and get closure, which makes the ghost leave in peace. Thickskin tries to console her sister, but the latter refuses.

Players will receive the following rewards for their hard work:

  • Scourge Accretion x3
  • Piece of Eight x1000
  • The Heart of the Beast
  • Samhain Whistle
  • Jovian Glow

After a while, if Banishers revisit the Hunters’ Camp, Thickskin will tell them that Kate ran away because of a sister's quarrel and ask a favor to find her, which triggers the Distended Ties Quest in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden.

Should You Sacrifice Thickskin In Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden?

If you decide to sacrifice Thickskin after slaying the Beast, Red will say she is possessed by a malicious spirit and will perform the Blame Ritual in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, thus killing her. Kate will be distraught and mourn her dead sister. After a while, Deborah’s ghost emerges, but Kate is lost without Thickskin, so she runs away without looking back. This choice will work towards resurrecting Antea, since you need as many sacrifices as possible.

You will receive almost the same rewards except for the Piece of Eight, which is the currency used to purchase items from merchants. Since Thickskin is dead, the promised reward won’t be fulfilled. If Banishers wish for an extra reward, consider sparing Thickskin instead of sacrificing her.

This scenario is unlike any previous one since usually, players must decide the fate of settlers and ghosts in Haunting Cases. In The Beast Quest, both Kate and Thickskin are settlers and there are no ghosts in sight, so there is no need to ascend or banish them.
