In a surprising turn of events, the highly anticipated release of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, a story-driven action RPG, has been met with an unexpected delay. Developed by the renowned studio Don't Nod and published by Focus Entertainment, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden was unveiled at The Game Awards 2022, quickly drawing the attention of many viewers.

Bolstering a diverse range of gameplay options, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden features an intriguing world filled with choices. The game has two central protagonists, Red Mac Raith and his late lover, Antea Duarte, who embark on a relentless battle against the myriad undead entities that plague the landscape of New Eden in North America. Players can take control of both Red and Antea, seamlessly merging Red's arsenal with Antea's supernatural abilities to battle spectral apparitions. This approach will allow players to engage in fluid combat, blending a mix of fighting styles by harnessing Red's rifle, sword, and firebane, in addition to Antea's ethereal attacks.

After the announcement at The Game Awards, the gaming community was anticipating a 2023 release for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, and it was subsequently confirmed that the game was scheduled to launch on November 7, 2023. Yet, a change of plans has occurred, and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is now slated for release on February 13, 2024. Oskar Guilbert, CEO of Don't Nod, and John Bert, Managing Director of Focus Entertainment, have clarified this shift, citing the crowded end-of-year game release calendar on both PCs and consoles. They believe that by launching during a less hectic period, the game will have a better chance to shine in the gaming landscape.

Protagonists Red and Antea embrace with their hands glowing

This decision by Don’t Nod Entertainment is understandable, considering that November 2023 is teeming with heavyweight releases, including titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Like a Dragon Gaiden, Persona 5 Tactica, and more, making it a strategic move to release Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden in a less crowded gaming environment.

It is worth highlighting that the delayed release time will enable Don’t Nod to further polish Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden before the game's official launch. While the decision may have caused disappointment among some fans looking forward to the November release, it's worth noting that the delay is only around four months.
