When the Baldur's Gate 3 1.0 release plans were announced, many fans were disappointed to see that while the game had solid PC and PS5 release dates, it wasn't going to be available for Xbox at launch. Difficulty in getting Baldur's Gate 3 split-screen working on the weaker Xbox Series S consoles was the reason why Xbox gamers were having to wait longer for the game. Luckily, it was decided that Baldur's Gate 3 would launch on Xbox Series S without split-screen support to get the game on Xbox platforms sooner.

For a while, all Larian Studios said about the Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox port was that it would be available at some point in December. Larian then confirmed that the Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox release date would be revealed at The Game Awards 2023. As it turns out, Larian not only revealed Baldur's Gate 3's Xbox release date at The Game Awards, but it outright launched the game. As of right now, Xbox gamers can purchase and play Baldur's Gate 3 in its entirety.
