Baldur's Gate 3 features a vast world with lots of secrets to uncover and buried treasure to find. Players who like to explore and reveal as much of the map as possible will notice mounds in the dirt or grass. They are easy to miss, but the characters with good perception skills have a chance of detecting something unusual buried in the grass. However, for the party to dig up the mounds, they must have a shovel. Without it, the party members can't dig for the buried treasure and loot hiding underground in Baldur's Gate 3.
Where To Buy A Shovel In Baldur's Gate 3
The party will need a shovel as early as possible to uncover buried treasure or even take a dark route and dig graves to find loot. There are multiple locations and ways to obtain the helpful tool, but the most reliable is purchasing it from the trader at the Hollow. The Hollow is the first settlement the party will stumble upon and where they will first encounter Wyll the Warlock.
- The Hollow is located at Emerald Grove.
- After the crash, continue north until the party reaches the Roadside Cliffs and activates a fast travel point.
- The Emerald Grove is north of the Roadside Cliffs.
- The party will gain access to the settlement after defeating the Goblins at the gate.
- Inside the Hollow, a trader will sell a shovel for nine gold.
- Players can barter items to trade for the shovel or use any gold the party has.
Where To Find A Shovel In Baldur's Gate 3
Even though the shovel isn't expensive, why pay for one when the party can find one for free? Use the following steps to locate the free shovel:
- Follow the path west to find a bridge with some dead travelers and NPCs to interact with.
- The bridge is outside the Blighted Village.
- After the NPCs have left the area, the party can check the crates and loot the bodies.
- There is a crate near an overturned carriage.
- Check the crate and take the shovel from inside.
The party can dig up the mounds of earth with the hidden treasure located all over the map and in the dungeons. To dig, make sure the shovel is in the party's inventory, and the protagonist will use it automatically.
