These Baldur's Gate 3 spells may not seem overly useful at first, but they can be incredibly helpful in the right situation.

While there may be some incredibly serious moments in the game. Baldur's Gate 3 still has occasions that will have players laughing. Spells are one of the greatest ways for a player to have a giggle. Many of these available spells are usually used by a bard, but even some of the other classes have some strange magic that will have players scratching their heads if they don't read the description.

8 Misty Step With The Boots Of Very Fast Blinking

Clothes Be Gone

Boots of Very Fast Blinking in Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Anyone can wear them

While the usual Misty Step spell is quite easy to use, those who have equipped the Boots of Very Fast Blinking may find themselves confused about why their character abandons their clothes every time they use it.

Apparently, these boots allow a player or their ally to teleport so fast that their armor and underclothes can't keep up. This leads to some very funny nude moments at first, until players begin to realize that they are now without their armor and open to every attack.

7 Stinking Cloud

Smelling So Bad It Stuns

Stinking Cloud in Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Bard
  • Sorcerer
  • Wizard
  • Warlock (The Fiend)
  • Druid (Circle of the Land)

Stinking Cloud does exactly what its name suggests. Players with a level three spell slot are able to conjure a cloud of foul-smelling green gas. Any player or enemy that finds themselves within this gas must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or lose their action for their turn.

It can be incredibly useful for stopping enemies from attacking, but players can't deny how weird it is to create this smelly gas cloud that can last for ten turns if they're able to keep concentrating on the smell.

6 Enlarge/Reduce

Make Foe Or Ally Tiny Or Huge

  • Wizard
  • Sorcerer
  • Duergar

Players are sure to be in for a weird yet fun time with the Enlarge / Reduce spell, as they are able to control what size a creature becomes. Shrinking an already small goblin, or making Karlach even bigger may be fun cosmetically, but the true purpose of this strange spell affects their weapon damage, strength checks, and their saving throws.

These unique weapons in Baldur's Gate 3 are not easily discovered by players. Some extra effort is needed to earn or find them.

Besides battle, reducing the size of someone may even help outside of combat. Finding a small pipe that a regular-sized person can't fit through can be easily solved by a wizard casting Reduce on a friend.

5 Feign Death

Pretend To Die

Feign Death in Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Bard
  • Cleric
  • Druid
  • Wizard

Feign Death may sound rather dramatic with it putting players into a protective coma that mimics the state of being dead. While a player may be unable to take a turn during the moments they are fake dead, they will be resistant to all damage types apart from psychic.

This still allows other allies to throw potions at this 'sleeping' ally to heal them up, while they remain immune to everything else. What makes this spell even weirder is that it doesn't require concentration, meaning an ally that is in the Feign Death state may stay that way for ten turns quite easily.

4 Vicious Mockery

Words Can Hurt For 1d4 Psychic Damage

The Vicious Mockery cantrip in Baldur's Gate 3
  • Bard
  • Warlock (Pact of the Tome)

This Cantrip is by far one of the greatest spells a bard has available to them from the very beginning of the game. Players may find that 1d4 of Psychic damage isn't a lot, but this, alongside the disadvantage to their attack roll, can save an ally's life.

What makes this spell so weird yet hilarious to use is the variety of insults the bard uses on a foe. Players may find themselves transforming the entirety of their party into bards to hear the various lines that each character has recorded for it, and there are some brutal ones.

3 Tasha's Hideous Laughter

Fall Prone From Laughter

Tasha’s Hideous Laughter in Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Bard
  • Wizard
  • Fighter (Eldritch Knight)
  • Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline)
  • Rogue (Arcane Trickster)

Falling to the ground and erupting in laughter is not something an enemy is going to want to do during a battle, but a spell caster that wields Tasha's Hideous Laughter will do exactly that to their opponents that fail a Wisdom saving throw and have an Intelligence score that's higher than five.

If the enemy isn't damaged, they will be rolling about on the floor in laughter, though every time they are hit, they will have a chance at picking themselves back off the ground and pulling themselves together.

2 Otto's Irresistible Dance

Foes Can't Stop Dancing

Otto's Irresistible Dance in Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Bard
  • Wizard

Like Tasha's Hideous Laughter, Otto's Irresistible Dance forces an opponent to dance until they drop. While they are still standing, they are unable to use an action or move unless they succeed on a Wisdom saving throw. Meanwhile, any player that attempts to attack them will have an advantage on their rolls.

While the opponent may still be able to use their bonus action, which could be an off-hand weapon, they will have disadvantage on their own attack rolls as well as their dexterity saving throws.

1 Polymorph

Turn Humanoids Into Sheep

Polymorph in Baldur's Gate 3
  • Bard
  • Druid
  • Sorcerer
  • Wizard
  • Cleric (Trickery Domain)
  • Warlock (Eldritch Invocation)

Out of all the available spells, by far the weirdest but greatest of the bunch has to be Polymorph. It's a spell that requires a level four spell slot and turns a foe into a sheep for five turns if they fail a wisdom saving throw from the caster.

The caster then needs to keep concentration if they hope to keep them in this form. When an enemy is a sheep, they are practically useless and unable to attack. This allows the player to focus on other foes in the meantime, as hitting the sheep for zero hp will revert them back to their normal form with the amount of hit points they had originally.
