When meeting another Baldur's Gate 3 fan, the question on everyone's lips is usually 'Who did you romance' first and foremost. Romances are sacred to RPG players, and players can bond over shared paramours or can raise some eyebrows if players give the wrong answer in the other fan's eyes.

These RPGs had romantic moments so powerful they could pull at the heartstrings of the most cold-hearted gamers.

Baldur's Gate 3 has a number of romantic options available to players regardless of their gender among the origin characters and NPCs players meet across the world. While characters like Shadowheart and Astarion have a number of vocal fans online praising their romantic routes as the best, there are other characters with massively underappreciated romances that are equally deserving of attention.

6 The Emperor

This One-off Encounter Allows Players To Share A Special Moment With A Mind Flayer

Baldur's Gate 3 Emperor and Tav

There are several micro-romances players can indulge in throughout Baldur's Gate 3, making it possible for one-off encounters with a wide range of characters. The Emperor stands out as perhaps the most surprising choice for players, as Mind Flayers act as adversaries for the most part.

The Emperor is unique in this regard, as they are not what they might seem from first impressions, acting as an ally, and if players choose so, even more than that. There in undoubtedly many players who are curious to know what it would be like to romance a Mind Flayer, and this one-off scene can certainly satisfy that curiosity, though it will undoubtedly disgust the companions.

5 Mizora

This None-Recruitable Cambion Is An Elusive But Rewarding Tryst

Baldur's Gate Mizora Cambion

This Cambion serves as Wyll's patron and is all too eager to dish out punishment for him breaching the contract they forged. As such, the player's first impression of Mizora might not be great, depending on their stance regarding certain companions.

Dungeons And Dragons: All Warlock Patrons, Ranked

There exists an entire pantheon of patrons players can choose for their warlock, but which of these is a god amongst lesser deities?

Mizora cannot be recruited like the origin characters or Halsin, and as such has no approval meter. Yet, eagle-eyed players can still enjoy a steamy tryst with this demonic creature. The romantic scene takes the character through a visual tour of various Hellish locations before she takes them in her embrace, resulting in a very unique scene that has more depth than what might be expected from a one-night stand.

4 Halsin

A Controversial Romance Scene And Long Route To Romance Hides A Sweet Relationship

After seeing the controversial image of the bear love scene that is taken from Halsin's route that Larian posted, many players might have been put off from pursuing any sort of romance with the kind-hearted druid, as well as how long it takes to officially enter a romance with him.

Despite encountering Halsin early on in Act 1, players will not see the culmination of the efforts to woo him until Act 3, which might discourage players from even considering pursuing him, but this would result in them missing out on a surprisingly sweet romance. What's more, Halsin doesn't mind a polyamorous relationship with the Tav or Dark Urge, so long as their other lover consents. And the bear scene is purely optional.

3 Minthara

The Players That Don't Kill This Boss Enemy Can Enjoy A Unique Romance

Baldur's Gate 3 Minthara

One of the three boss enemies in the Goblin Camp, many players might not even realize she is romanceable and recruitable, as all other bosses cannot be invited to the camp. But for players doing an evil Durge run, they might be able to recruit Minthara, though a recent patch means players can still recruit here even when they side with the Druid Grove and wipe out the other goblin leaders.

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Recruit Minthara Without Betraying the Grove

Baldur’s Gate 3 now lets players recruit Minthara, without having to betray the whole Grove. Here’s how players can get Minthara on their side.

Despite being an evil character, Minthara's character has more depth than a ruthless war commander who will pursue her goals to the death. She also has a dry wit that can draw in players, as well as a dominating personality that will definitely appeal to certain people. But beneath that exterior is a more gentle soul terrified to trust others, marking her romance route as unique and tragically overlooked.

2 Wyll

Wyll romance dance scene BG3

One of the origin characters is Wyll, a debonair warlock with overflowing charisma, and a heart of gold. As a noble, he never acts as though everyone is beneath him, which makes him an affable character who is easy to get along with as long as players veer away from outwardly evil choices.

Those who commit to acts of goodness and successfully woo Wyll will see the romantic side behind the veneer of the dashing and brave Blade of Frontiers. Players will even have the chance to dance with him during his romance route, resulting in a scene that seems like it's ripped straight from a cheesy romance book.

1 Lae'zel

This Feiry Fighter Has More To Offer Than Scathing Remarks, But Thawing Her Heart Is Difficult

One of the origin characters players can choose to play as, recruit and romance is the ruthless Githyanki Lae'zel, who the players first encounter on the Nautiloid. She has a rather abrasive personality, not everyone can get accustomed to, and as such Lae'zel is left out in the cold by many players who refuse to pursue her personal character arc and her romance.

But, those who do pursue Lae'zel will realize there is more to Lae'zel than the Ice Queen persona she embodies at a surface level. Romancing her leads to a bond that lacks emotional depth at the start but those with the patience to pursue her, will gain the respect of the Githyanki warrior, and form a strong bond with her. This makes her one of the most underappreciated options, as most will give up on her right at the start.
