A Baldur's Gate 3 player has discovered a trick that lets players one-shot Grym. With the game allowing so many open-ended choices that allow for freedom to decide actions, many fans have been studiously trying to find ways to make life easier in-game. The D&D mechanics are very strict and tough, and that's why players resort to some ease-of-use techniques that serve them well. One example of this is the Baldur's Gate 3 player that discovered a simple trick of opening locked chests without lock-picking. While it's an unnecessary exploit, the way it makes things easier takes a load off of trouble gamers' hands.
Some would say that the in-game boss fights need toning down in the game. Those dedicated to keeping the authenticity of the game would rather do battles the old-fashioned way, in an epic fight to the death. Baldur's Gate 3's Halsin is a Logical Progression From One Enhanced Edition Companion
Baldur's Gate 3's bear-shifting druid Halsin brings to mind another bear of a very different kind who appeared in Baldur's Gate 2's Enhanced Edition.
Reddit user Tawxif_iq shared their own method of defeating Grym using just one attack, and it involves enlarging their bear character to pounce on the opponent from up above. The video clip showed that they were able to deal around 644 damage to Grym, which is quite a feat considering the difficulty of this encounter. Some players have compared this move to the previously discovered Owlbear Method in Baldur's Gate 3 which follows the same principle. What makes this move different is that the bears do not having Crushing Flight so the character uses the jump action instead.
While other players have come up with genius ways to defeat the system, such as the Baldur's Gate 3 player who sapped intelligence from the Steel Watcher Titan, Tawxif_iq's method seems like an easier way to win fights. Granted, the only prerogative needed for their method would be the terrain. The bear jump only works this way if it comes from a high enough location, as the damage is also dependent on height.
As many Baldur's Gate 3 fans continue to challenge themselves by adding parameters and trying to aim for faster speed runs, some of the methods mentioned might help achieve that goal. One-shots can drastically improve the time it takes to finish the game, as battles are some of the most time-consuming portions.
