As players make their way through the Mountain Pass in Baldur's Gate 3, they'll eventually reach the Githyanki crèche inside the Rosymorn Monastery, where a contingency of warriors has set up camp. Like other parts of the game, there are a few things to discover and interact with in this location, and not all of them are as dire as the rest.

Past the stone corridors full of Gith guards and trainees, Baldur's Gate 3 players will soon reach an eye-catching painting — one of the Undying Queen Vlaakith herself. The portrait has a serious and imposing aura about it, and it can't help but tickle a natural urge within players by asking a specific question: is it okay to vandalize this thing?

Should You Draw On Vlaakith's Portrait?

Vandalizing Vlaakith's portrait in Baldur's Gate 3

Despite committing what is essentially sacrilege, drawing on Vlaakith's portrait doesn't seem to have any serious consequences. If players pass a DC 16 Dexterity check, their selected character will proudly doodle on the Undying Queen's most sacred image. The protruding horns, dastardly mustache, well-groomed goatee, and classy monocle do breathe new life into the painting, but not everyone will appreciate it.

Sooner or later, one of the young Githyanki warriors inside the base will walk up and notice that the painting has been vandalized. They will start panicking and try to remove the tasteful embellishments before the inquisitor takes notice.

If Lae'zel is with the party, she will be mad and disappointed with the player, calling the act wretched and juvenile. However, this doesn't seem to affect her actual standing with the player as the approval/disapproval icon in the upper-left corner of the screen doesn't show up. The other companions don't appear to have any special interactions or dialogue for this either.

Regardless, there doesn't seem to be any serious repercussions if players decide to draw on Vlaakith's painting. The party will still be able to continue with the rest of the Mountain Pass story normally by going to the commander's chamber and eventually proceeding to where the gith inquisitor is deeper inside the monastery.

Seeing the Mountain Pass story through to the end is highly recommended as players will be able to obtain the Blood of Lathander, a legendary mace that's best suited for clerics. It does involve several steps that are easy to miss, but players should be able to claim as soon as they finish the Rosymorn Monastery stained glass puzzle and deal with the inquisitor.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available now on PC with a PS5 version coming soon.
