Larian Studios is currently hard at work on Baldur's Gate 3. The epic Dungeons & Dragons RPG has previously been teased as having an Early Access launch in 2020, but so far Larian hasn't made any further announcements. That may change soon, however. Larian has now announced that it has plans to release a new Baldur's Gate 3 trailer on Friday, May 29. Expectations are certain to be high, but Larian isn't offering any hints just yet.

In a post on Twitter, Larian Studios released a simple statement saying "A Baldur's Gate 3 sizzle is dropping tomorrow." Sizzle implies that Larian will release a new trailer. Traditionally, a sizzle video implies a series of clips and audio intended to build up hype for a project. In gaming, that can take many different forms, but the key takeaway is that a new trailer will soon be available.

Given that Larian Studios hasn't talked about Baldur's Gate 3 in some time now, it seems a likely possibility that tomorrow's trailer is a teaser for something else. It could be confirmation that Baldur's Gate 3 will be showcased during another Summer Game Fest event, for example. Dropping a cold trailer for a major game like Baldur's Gate 3 likely isn't Larian's whole plan.

As for whether Larian might be preparing to announce Baldur's Gate 3's Early Access launch, that's certainly something to pay attention to. Originally, Larian teased an early access launch "in a couple of months." That was in February. Since then, Larian's acknowledged that COVID-19's impact has slowed development, but that early access was still the plan for 2020. Hopefully, news on that front is coming soon, whether it's tomorrow or further out.

The last time that Larian showed off Baldur's Gate 3, it provided a full hands-on gameplay walkthrough. That means that everything is on the table for when Larian shows the game next. The team might show new gameplay, story, Dungeons & Dragons classes in action, or even a new cinematic. Alternatively, Larian could even announce a delay, though it probably wouldn't have teased the trailer as a "sizzle" if so.

It took three years after Divinity: Original Sin was released for Divinity: Original Sin 2 to launch. 2020 marks three years since Divinity: Original Sin 2 launched, so hopefully Baldur's Gate 3 remains on track. Expect to hear more news tomorrow.

Baldur's Gate 3 releases in early access in 2020 for PC and Stadia.
