Baldur’s Gate 3 just revealed several new character options it is including in the game’s release. The highly-anticipated RPG is adding two extra races, a new class, and tons of new subclasses for Baldur’s Gate 3 players to choose from.

In a recent Community Update, Larian Studios revealed tons of new information about Baldur’s Gate 3. One of the highlights of the post was that the PC release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been moved up by nearly a month, though the PS5 launch received a slight delay.

However, the bulk of the post talked about some of the new character creation options Baldur’s Gate 3 is adding before the game’s launch. Half-Orcs and the otherworldly Dragonborn are rounding out the list of playable races, meaning gamers will be able to choose from every option from the original Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Player’s Handbook. Dwarf characters will also be able to play Duergar–the psionic residents of the Underdark–as a subrace option.

Additionally, the Monk class is finally coming to Baldur’s Gate 3. This zen warrior deftly wields light weapons, unarmed strikes, and ki to control the battlefield and dispatch enemies. Dungeons and Dragons fans will recognize Monk abilities like Deflect Missiles and Martial Arts and can choose from the Open Hand, Shadow, and Four Elements Monastic traditions, each of which has been slightly adjusted from their D&D counterparts to better fit a video game setting.

Were that not exciting enough, each of Baldur’s Gate 3’s other 12 playable classes is getting at least one new subclass option. From the Gloom Stalker Ranger to the Wild Magic Sorcerer, every class has at least three options now–though the Cleric and Wizard have more than twice that number. With 46 subclasses available at launch, players will easily be able to create many powerful builds from Dungeons and Dragons in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s release will see tons of other new features as well. The game will have 37 feats, at least half of which are new for launch, and over 600 spells and sub-spells, including dozens of options not seen in Early Access. Lastly, Baldur’s Gate 3 is increasing the maximum level cap from 10 to 12. Classes will get access to powerful upper-tier abilities, such as 6th-level spells from Dungeons and Dragons like Chain Lightning and Otto’s Irresistible Dance for spellcasters, a third attack for Fighters, or Reliable Talent for Rogues. Players can expect to see details about these features and more on July 7 during Baldur’s Gate 3’s final Panel From Hell.

Baldur's Gate 3 is coming to PC on August 3 and PS5 on September 6.
