Inside of Patch 3, Larian Studios adds a new feature to Baldur's Gate 3 called the Magic Mirror, giving players access to a highly requested feature. Following a lengthy Early Access period, Larian Studios finally launched the full version of Baldur's Gate 3 at the beginning of August to both critical and commercial success. The game features a wealth of content for players to explore with nearly everything influenced by a Dungeons and Dragons style dice roll, ensuring that each playthrough is unique.

Another element to the game's success are the frequent updates being made, adding in new features, quality of life updates, and bug fixes to keep the experience smooth for players. Larian was set to launch Patch 3 for Baldur's Gate 3 earlier this week, but it was hit with a slight delay to September 22 to allow for more testing time. While full details remain scarce at the time of writing, Patch 3 is "a big one" according to Larian and includes a new feature called the Magic Mirror, a solution to a highly requested feature from fans.

While Baldur's Gate 3 players have been unable to alter their character's appearance once the game begins, Patch 3 is bringing with it the Magic Mirror inside the player's camp to finally allow for some additional customization. According to Larian, when interacting with the mirror at camp, players will be able to alter some of their character including their general appearance such as their face, the sound of their voice, as well as pronouns. The announcement itself has been met with plenty of praise from the community with the social media reveal alone pulling in a significant amount of likes, comments, and retweets.

However, there are a few restrictions that players should be aware of when using the Magic Mirror. The character's race and body type are locked in place and can't be adjusted further with the Magic Mirror considering how much they influence the game world and other characters. In addition, players won't be able to change any of the Origins in Baldur's Gate 3 either, premade characters like Gale or Shadowheart who have their own distinct backgrounds and personalities.

Recently, there's been a lot of talk around the community over secrets that have yet to be discovered by players. The initial realization came at the end of August when Neil Newborn, who plays Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3, indicated that there was a segment of the game which, to his knowledge, had yet to be discovered. However, in the weeks that followed, Larian provided an update as to exactly what Newborn was hinting at, claiming that some players have since discovered the side quest and added details for those who may want to experience it.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available now on PC and PS5.
