Larian Studios has just revealed that the first official Baldur’s Gate 3 patch will be massive, containing over 1,000 fixes and incorporating feedback from players. Gamers are already encountering some pretty big bugs in Baldur’s Gate 3, so a huge patch would be welcomed by the fanbase.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a huge hit since it was launched earlier this month for PC. Not only has the title received glowing reviews from mostly all major media outlets, but it’s also one of the most popular games in Steam history. During the height of its popularity, over 875,000 people were playing Baldur’s Gate 3, and the numbers are still high right now, as the game still has over 600,000 players. Unfortunately, though, Baldur’s Gate 3 is so massive that there are a few bugs to iron out, and Larian is aware of that.

Larian’s boss Swen Vincke recently talked about Baldur’s Gate 3's next update on Twitter. According to him, after the upcoming Hotfix 4, Larian will launch the first big patch for BG3, which will include over a thousand fixes and tweaks to improve the overall experience. Swen affirmed that the devs are even planning a second update later, which will address feedback from players and improve the experience of playing this unique take on Dungeons and Dragons5th Edition even more.

This announcement comes on the heels of the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix update, which was released a few days ago. This minor update, labeled Hotfix 3, addressed over 200 glitches originally found in the title, including some that were causing crashes for a few players. Other changes include a few quality-of-life features related to changing the game’s dice color, for example. Overall, it seems that Larian is currently working hard to improve the experience of playing BG3 as much as possible.

The PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on September 6 and, when compared to PC, it will be an improved version of the title, as it will have all hotfixes and patches, including the yet unreleased Patch 1. Aside from being a version with probably fewer bugs and more stability, the PS5 version will also feature a few changes, such as being adapted to work well with controllers. However, there are rumors that the version may be graphically dated when compared to running BG3 on powerful gaming computers, something that is expected when consoles need to compete with high-end PCs.

Baldur's Gate 3 is out now for PC with a PS5 version releasing on September 6. An Xbox version is also in development.
