Larian Studio's latest RPG released last year, but it's still drawing fans back for more playthroughs, and gamers are still raving about it. Baldur's Gate 3 was one of the biggest hits of 2023, and it looks like players could make it a major part of 2024 as well.
A big part of what makes the fantasy game such a fan-favorite and earns it repeated playthroughs is the sheer size of the title and the number of choices and endings that can be uncovered, even from the very beginning of a run. There are several major choices to make in Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3 and fans only get more as the story unfolds. Of course, for some players, the biggest choice to make involves whom to romance. Now, one of those romances just got better.
Big Baldur's Gate 3 Update Coming Next Week
Larian Studios teases fans with what they can expect from the big Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 6 update, scheduled to drop next week.
This week, Larian Studios unveiled a new kiss animation for players who manage to win the affections of Shadowheart. Shown off in a tweet from the developer's account, it shows Shadowheart teasing a Githyanki player character before delivering a passionate smooch. Everyone's favorite elf cleric is, for many, among the best characters to romance in Baldur's Gate 3, and this new bit of affection could bump her up the list for some fans.
Shadowheart Delivers a Kiss Because the Player 'Earned It'
In the animation, Shadowheart first says "I suppose you've earned it," before moving in for the kiss. The Acolyte of Shar certainly seems more aggressive and playful in this scene as opposed to previous animations, which arguably fits the character very well. It does seem to have struck a chord with fans on Twitter, with lots of replies celebrating the new animation and Shadowheart in general. There were already plenty of reasons to romance Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3, and now there seems to be one more.
This should please many players, given how popular Shadowheart is as a romance option. When Larian Studios revealed Baldur's Gate 3 stats and popular choices last year, she proved to be the number 1 choice for romance, with a slim majority completing her story. With so many options to pick from in the game, this speaks to how much gamers have responded to the character.
Baldur's Gate 3 offers lots of paths to follow and decisions to make. As Larian continues to build on the game and release new updates and content, it won't be surprising to see players drawn back in to try new choices or revisit old ones. For the moment, Shadowheart will likely be at the heart of many player decisions.
