Hundreds of Baldur's Gate 3 players have recently taken online to share some inventive uses of seemingly mundane items that they have discovered so far. Their findings add to the already substantial list of creative Baldur's Gate 3 tricks that the fandom managed to uncover since the game's August 3 release.
Much like the first two mainline entries in the series, Baldur's Gate 3 is based on the iconic Dungeons and Dragons tabletop RPG from Wizards of the Coast. Nearly every aspect of the game can hence help fans engage in some fairly elaborate role-playing, with most items that players find in the overworld being no exception.
In yet another testament to the immense attention to detail that went into the making of Baldur's Gate 3, Reddit user distilledwill recently started a well-received thread compiling niche uses for some seemingly mundane items in the game. Their list of suggestions includes treating Disguise Kits as one-off methods for casting the Disguise Self Illusion spell and turning candles into portable sources of extra fire damage by dipping weapons into their burning wicks. The fan also discovered that Caustic Bulbs found in the first hour of the game are some of the most effective AoE throwables that players can obtain in Act 1, whereas bottles of water never stop being useful due to their ability to clear environmental effects such as fire and poison or acid spills from a distance.
Many other players followed up on this advice with their own findings, including the observation that the balls used for playing fetch with Scratch the dog in Baldur's Gate 3 can also be thrown during battle in order to summon him as a temporary combat ally who can pick up fallen companions. Another player discovered that water bottles can also be used to unveil hidden enemies if the splash that they create on impact reaches any such obscured creatures. Other useful item applications that were shared by the fandom include using grease bottles to facilitate Strength checks for moving mechanical objects like cranks and attacking health potions sitting on the ground in order to heal a larger area than by throwing them.
