Of all Baldur's Gate 3 locations, aside from the titular city itself, no location may be more hyped up than Moonrise Towers. Moonrise Towers serves as the central command center of the Cult of the Absolute, and is central to the main storyline of Baldur's Gate 3.

How To Get To Moonrise Towers

Moonrise Towers Location Map Baldur's gate 3

To get to Moonrise Towers, players must progress through the Grymforge or through the Mountain Pass to reach the Shadow-Cursed Lands – the setting for the second act of Baldur's Gate 3. After reaching the Last Light Inn, defending Isobel, and finding a way to traverse the Shadow Curse on the western bank of the river, players can access Moonrise Tower.

Moonrise Towers is found in the southwest of the Act 2 map, in an area more deeply affected by the Shadow Curse. Use the Pixie Bell, Moon Lantern, or another method to enter Reithwin Town on the west side of the river across one of three bridges. From the fountain, or from the Tollhouse, head further south along the path to reach the bridge to Moonrise Towers.

Players can technically head here from the start of Act 2 through the curse if they're quick enough, and if escorted by the Drider successfully, evil-aligned characters can get there safely. Generally, it's recommended to do Last Light Inn content beforehand to better set up the Moonrise Towers storyline.

Once you have discovered the bridge to Moonrise Towers, the Moonrise Towers Waypoint will unlock. From now on, unless forbidden by an area, the party can simply travel to this point to access Moonrise Towers. It's safe from the Shadow Curse in the surrounding areas, so players don't need to worry about equipping their Shadow Curse dispelling items here.

Once inside, there are a number of questlines, unique encounters, and sublocations to discover, beginning with players' first formal introduction to General Ketheric Thorm, an invulnerable follower of the Absolute who serves as the act's main antagonist. The conclusion to the Rescue the Tieflings and Ironhand Gnomes questlines can be found here, as well as of course the confrontation with Ketheric Thorm himself. Moonrise Towers is intrinsically tied into the plot of both Act 1 and 2, and one can expect to come back here several times before finally reaching Baldur's Gate.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available on PC and will release on PlayStation 5 on September 6, 2023. A version for Xbox Series X|S is currently in development.
