Baldur's Gate 3 serves as a gateway into Dungeons & Dragons, recreating the setting of the tabletop RPG accurately. The fact that the game is heavily based on the fifth edition of D&D means it has a number of prominent differences from its predecessor, which uses the 2e rules. For instance, Baldur's Gate 3 has turn-based combat and more complex spells. Considering there are 20 years between these two iconic RPGs, it's no surprise that Baldur's Gate 3 feels like a game of a different generation.
