A Baldur's Gate 3 player who has sunk over 50 hours into the beloved RPG has revealed that they only recently discovered a very useful game shortcut that could have saved them a lot of time managing items. After sharing this blunder online, the player discovered that there were other people with even longer play times who also missed the feature.

Baldur's Gate 3, which was released last August, has become one of the biggest hits in gaming this year. Made by the independent Belgian developer Larian Studios, the title won the hearts of many with its impressive writing, memorable cast of characters, and high degree of freedom that it gave players, among other things. Baldur's Gate 3 is also known for its many complexities, such as the gameplay mechanics based on the ruleset of the popular tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons, as well as the in-game inventory system. It seems one player, a Reddit user named Xilerain, was only able to learn of a simple yet useful feature in the latter when they were already relatively deep into the game.

In a recent post on the Baldur's Gate 3 subreddit, Xilerain revealed that they had played 50 hours of the game when they realized that they could see all the available items in any equipment slot just by clicking on the slot once. As the folks over at Larian Studios themselves claimed that most people would need to spend between 75 to 100 hours to finish Baldur's Gate 3, Xilerain may have already progressed well within the late stages of the game upon discovering the time-saving inventory management feature. "[I]t just never occurred to me to click one," they explained.

While some community members bragged about having knowledge of the shortcut in Xilerain's post, there were also others who admitted that they were unaware of the feature. Among them was someone who had already played the game for 700 hours. This is similar to what happened to one Baldur's Gate 3 player who stumbled upon a new enemy type 400 hours into the game, but that player probably would not feel bad about potentially wasting time from not knowing about an inventory feature.

It is understandable for Baldur's Gate 3 players to miss a lot of things in the game because of its overwhelming amount of content. Even the eagle-eyed may have a hard time spotting the smallest of details in the RPG, like the funny descriptions of the Baldur's Gate 3 companions' underwear.

Fortunately, many people will still be able to discover the many quirks and eccentricities of the game, albeit at random. From unmarked quests in Baldur’s Gate 3 to something more technical like weird engine behaviors, there will always be something to discover in Baldur's Gate 3 as the title offers a large number of things to encounter and activities to do.
