How to Get the Worgfang in Baldur's Gate 3

Baldurs Gate 3_Goblin Camp Guards

In Baldur's Gate 3, the Worgfang can be acquired during Act 1. As this dagger offers strong perk when going up against Goblins, it's important to know how to source this item for your party as soon as possible, as the majority of enemies you'll be facing off against in Act 1 just so happen to be Goblins.

Luckily, the Worgfang can be sourced during completion of another important quest during Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3 - the Free Halsin Quest. To initiate this Quest, you'll need to head into Emerald Grove and speak to the Druids, who are missing their leader, Halsin. Upon speaking to them, you will discover that Halsin had been tracking down the Goblins, and has yet to return.

After initiating the Rescue the Druid Halsin quest, you will need to head over to the Goblin Camp. To reach this location, follow the path down from Emerald Grove through the forest until you reach Blighted Village. From here, continue in the same direction and follow the path down the hill, and then finally cross the bridge into the Goblin's Camp courtyard. Once here, you will need to enter the building located in the courtyard, which is an abandoned Selunite temple known as Shattered Sanctum.

Once inside Shattered Sanctum, you will need to locate the Worg Pens. This is a separate room that can be assessed through the door located at the approximate coordinates of X: 342, Y: 26.

Once inside the Worg Pens, you will notice a few Goblins scattered across the room, and two cages. One of these cages holds 2 Worgs, while the other holds a Bear. If you have Speak With Animals, you can speak to the bear, and it will ask you to free him. While this will involve combat, this does happen to be the easiest way to obtain the Worgfang dagger, as the weapon is hidden within the Worg cage.

In the case that you do not have to Speak with Animals, you can simply initiate combat by attacking the Goblins or unlocking the Bear's cage with Thieves Tools. During this combat the Worgs will either claw the door to their pen down, or one of the Goblins will unlock it, enabling you to team up with these mysterious bears and take down both the Goblins and Worgs. Once combat is finished, speak to the Bear, and he will reveal himself to have been the Druid Halsin, who was under disguise through his Wildshaped Bear form.

After this, you will be free to explore the Worg Pens and loot the bodies of the Goblins, as well as any chests or other treasures in the location. Head inside the pen into which the Worgs were previously shut. The Worgfang dagger is hidden inside a pile of bones within this location, at the approximate coordinates of X: 386, Y: -16.

Worgfang Perks & How to Get the Most Value, Explained

worgfang

Worgfang Perks:

  • Goblin's Undoing: Goblins have Disadvantage on Attack Rolls against the wielder.

Essentially, any character wielding this weapon will provide automatic Disavantage to Goblins who attack them, which is a huge buff to carry throughout Act 1 of the game, primarily when aiming to take on the Goblin Camp either on your own, or by speaking to the leader, Minthara, and leading the Goblins to Emerald Grove, before turning against them and fighting alongside the Tieflings and Druids.

To gain the most value from this weapon, you'll want to ensure you have it equipped with a character who can best utilize daggers. As Daggers are light finesse weapons, Rogues are undoubtedly the best choice to consider. Not only will they impose Disadvantage against Goblin enemies who attempt to attack them, but they can also frequently proc Advantage for themselves against Goblins (and other enemies) through Cunning Action Hide and Sneak Attack.

If a Rogue is off the table for any reason, other high DEX-based builds will also be a brilliant choice for the Worgfang dagger. Rangers are another DEX-focused Class, and while they are primarily used as ranged snipers, equipping them with this weapon will ensure they have a backup melee option. Lastly, Bards are fairly dexterous, so this weapon may function as a suitable option when Spells and Cantrips are off the table, lastly, a DEX-based Monk may also be able to make use of this weapon throughout Act 1 until they can gain more value from their Unarmed Strikes and Flurry of Blows.
