Baldur's Gate 3 has many different weapon variants that can be acquired throughout your journey - from melee weapons with extra buffs to ranged weapons that bring extra Spells to the table.

Among the various Halberds available in the game, Light of Creation is among the most powerful contenders. However, to gain this weapon, you will need to work your way through an encounter within the Underdark that can easily be missed altogether. For this reason, knowing where to find this encounter and source the Light of Creation can be highly beneficial.

How to Get Light of Creation in Baldur's Gate 3

To acquire Light of Creation in Baldur's Gate 3, you will need to beat an Automaton named Bernard in battle and loot this item from his corpse. Bernard can be found in the Underdark's Arcane Tower, located on the top floor. However, to reach him, you will first need to navigate your way through a series of threats and puzzles.

The Arcane Tower is located within the Underdark. However, much like many mysterious corners of this place, it can be easily missed if you don't know where to look, or are in a rush to get through the Underdark as quickly as possible. For an exact location within the map, feel free to refer to the screenshot below.

The first step to getting into the Arcane Tower is bypassing the various Arcane Turrets that are located surrounding it. This can be successfully achieved by sneaking around or past the turrets with a character who has strong movement speed (Wood Elves, Barbarians, Monks), or a character who can utilize multiple Dash actions in a single turn (Rogues through Cunning Action, for example - Thieves in particular can Action Dash, and then Bonus Cunning Action Dash twice).

Alternatively, you can also attempt to disable all Arcane Turrets through damage. While they are resistant to most damage types, both Physical and Magical, they are weak to Lightning Damage. This means that Spells such as Chain Lightning, Call Lightning, Lightning Bolt, Chromatic Orb, or Witch Bolt will be highly successful. You can also use a weapon that deals Lightning Damage, such as Arrows of Lightning, The Joltshooter, The Spellsparkler, or The Sparky Points.

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Disable Arcane Turrets

After entering the Arcane Tower you will need to find a way to the ground below. This can be achieved by jumping down the mushrooms on the side of the first room, or by heading out to the balcony and using Feather Fall to safely jump right down. Once here, you will need to head over to the glowing tree that presents Sussur Blooms. Players will need to acquire one of these, which will temporarily prevent Spellcasting while in your possession. Next, you will need to head over to the door of the Arcane Tower and use a character with strong Dexterity to unlock the door with Thieves Tools.

Once inside, you will need to use the Sussur Bloom to supply power to the Arcane Tower, which can be done by dropping one of them into the power device and clicking the combine button. This will now disable all Arcane Turrets, and provide power to the rest of the Tower.

Now that the elevator is powered, use the buttons to ascend through all of the levels, until you reach the top floor. Upon entering this floor, you will be met with an encounter with Bernard, who will speak a poetic riddle at you. If you have read the books on previous levels of the Arcane Tower, you will likely have gained the dialogue to answer correctly. However, this isn't necessary, as getting this wrong starts combat, which is what you'll need to do to gain Light of Creation, regardless.

After beating Bernard and the other Automatons in battle, you will be able to click on his body to open the loot menu, and then simply add the Light of Creation to your possessions, or equip it to your desired companion.

Light of Creation Skills & Buffs

  • Deals 1d10+1 Slashing damage and an additional 1d6 Lightning damage
  • Overcharge: Chance to stun the wielder, unless it is a construct

The best Class to choose for making the most out of a Halberd is Paladin, Fighter, or Barbarian, depending on personal preference. This is because these are all Classes that operate brilliantly on the frontline, as they can dish out high levels of damage, as well as tank incoming hits. In addition to this, these Classes all efficiently make use of the Great Weapon Master Feat, which enables you to take -5 to your Attack Rolls but add +10 to your Damage Rolls.

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Get Amulet of Restoration

The Amulet of Restoration is one of the strongest healing utility items in Baldur's Gate 3, making it a worthy objective to acquire.

Alongside Great Weapon Master, the Sentinel and Polearm Master Feats pair together brilliantly. As the Halberd is a Reach weapon, it extends the user's range. Sentinel enables you to make an Opportunity Attack whenever someone enters your range, while Sentinel lets you make an Opportunity Attack whenever an enemy in your range attacks one of your allies. Essentially, while having both of these equipped while also utilizing Great Weapon Master, you should be able to trigger Opportunity Attacks on almost every turn, which will all dean an extra +10 damage on top of the +1d6 Lightning Damage and base damage provided by Light of Creation.

However, while the extra damage provided is undoubtedly hugely beneficial to combat, a threat linked to Light of Creation is the Overcharge penalty. Overcharge means that with each use of this weapon, it will have a chance of stunning the equipped character, due to them not being a construct. Luckily, this can be negated by equipping an item known as Automaton's Gloves. These Gloves can be acquired through purchase from Barcus Wroot at Last Light Inn.
