Developer Larian Studios has announced it has released Hotfix 12 for Baldur's Gate 3. The patch seeks to fix some issues where solutions were found by the studio only after the release of Patch 5 for Baldur's Gate 3.

With every single update, Baldur's Gate 3 reaffirms itself as one of the best games released in 2023. The RPG was released in August this year to widespread critical acclaim, and while it wasn't perfect, Larian Studios confirmed its commitment to updating the game to make it the very best it can be. This is in line with the developer's previous title, Divinity: Original Sin 2, which saw new content added long after release. The recent Patch 5 update for Baldur's Gate 3 added an epilogue to the game's ending in what was by far its biggest update to date. If Larian Studios keeps this up, the game will only improve going forward.

The latest update, Hotfix 12, was announced on Twitter by Larian Studios, confirming it had already been pushed to players. While the list of changes is extremely small, it does include fixes for a couple of crashes, so it's still a positive step forward for the game. One of the changes will be great news for split-screen co-op Baldur's Gate 3 players, as Hotfix 12 fixes one crash related to joining the game with a second controller and activating the two-player mode in certain areas of the game.

Patch 5 for Baldur's Gate 3 was only released two days ago. However, the fact that Larian Studios has managed to push another Hotfix out to players so fast is a sign of the work being done by the developer. Naturally, Larian has yet to set a date or announce any features for a potential Patch 6 for Baldur's Gate 3; however, given the frequency of updates so far, it wouldn't be surprising to see it before 2023 is over.

While Larian Studios continues to perfect the game via these free updates, gamers are excited about what the future holds for DLC in Baldur's Gate 3. With such a huge game, every player has their own desires and expectations for what they want to see, so it might prove hard to please everyone. One main prevailing theory surrounds the potential for new locations in Baldur's Gate 3's Upper City, which was cut from the base game. It will certainly be interesting to see which direction the developer goes in, but it's likely gamers won't hear any news on the DLC front until 2024 now.
